Wide variety of activities at Weyburn library in February

The Weyburn Public Library is planning for a wide variety of activities and classes for all ages through the month of February.

WEYBURN – The Weyburn Public Library is planning for a wide variety of activities and classes for all ages through the month of February, ranging from an author reading to science and technology activities, cooking classes and book clubs.

A reading by author Corrine Hewitt will be held on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 2 p.m., and she will be reading from her new children’s book. She will also teach those who attend how to make homemade butter and biscuits.

A family activity, Glo Golf, is set for Thursday, Feb. 16 at 6:30 p.m., and for those who love building with Lego, the Lego Club will meet on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 10 a.m.

There are two Science-and-Technology Think Tank sessions in February for those aged six to eight years old, including a Valentine’s STEM activity on Tuesday, Feb. 7, and a session focusing on magnets on Tuesday, Feb. 21. Both happen after school, starting at 4 p.m.

A Kids Crafting session for six-to-eight year olds will be held on Thursday, Feb. 9. The project will be to make glitter heart crayons.

For the Makerspace Mania sessions, a Marble Run will be held on Monday, Feb. 6 after school at 4 p.m. for those aged seven to 12.

A Junior Chef class will be held on Monday, Feb. 13 to teach children aged six to eight how to make pancakes.

The Tween book club, for those aged nine to 12, will be reading Anne of Green Gables, and will meet to talk about the book on Thursday, Feb. 23 at 6:30 p.m.

The Tween Chef class, teaching how to make mini-fruit pies, will be held on Monday, Feb. 27 at 4 p.m.

A teen cooking class, called Kitchen Chemistry, will be held on Sunday, Feb. 19 at 2 p.m., making fluffy chocolate chip muffins.

A club for teens who love anime and manga will be held on Thursday, Feb. 16 at 4 p.m.

A number of activities for teens is planned during the February break. On Feb. 21 is cricut crafts; a slime party is on Feb. 22; “Will it Waffle?” is on Feb. 23, and Flashback Friday, a teen retro day, will be held on Feb. 24, all times at 2 p.m.

For young adults, for those aged 16 to 25, a game night will be held on Monday, Feb. 7 at 6:30 p.m. A young adult cooking class, where participants learn how to measure flour and make biscuits and pancakes, is set for Sunday, Feb. 5 at 2 p.m.

An art class for adults will be held on Monday, Feb. 27, where participants will experiment with a fun new technique of painting with yarn. The class starts at 6:30 p.m.

An adult cooking class making crepes will be held on Monday, Feb. 6 at 6:30 p.m.

For adults who would like to learn all about using the library’s 3-D printer, an orientation session is planned for Saturday, Feb. 18 at 10:30 a.m.

The adult book club for February is studying “Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man”, on Monday, Feb. 21 at 6:30 p.m.
