The weekend of May 30 proved to be a very busy one at the White Bear Lake Golf Course. The course, which is situated on the White Bear First Nations in the White Bear Lake Resort, was opened on May 15, but operating under the COVID-19 provisions that had been put in place by White Bear First Nations Chief and Council. The provisions were put in place from April 7 until May 30.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The 18-hole White Bear Lake Golf Course and staff, which offers some of the finest conditions for golfers anywhere in Saskatchewan, was well prepared for the influx of golfers that were anxiously waiting to play the challenging links.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Club Professional and Course Manager Gord Petker was very pleased to be back to the 鈥渘ew normal鈥 that all courses in the province are under now. Petker, who resides in Ontario for the winter, was subject to 14 days of quarantine upon his return to White Bear Resort in mid-April.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The season opened May 15, allowing only permanent residents of the resort and citizens of White Bear First Nations to golf.聽 Courses were allowed to open under the Saskatchewan Governments reopening strategy and it was a wait and see what the planned opening weekend would bring to the White Bear Resort and White Bear Golf Course. The community of White Bear First Nations, White Bear Lake cottagers and the many patrons of the popular vacation destination, were anxiously awaiting the opening of both the resort and its many facilities.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 With the extra time to organize for the season the course was ready to go Saturday morning, May 30 under the new rules that all courses now must abide by.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Typically other area golf courses seen a busy start to the season and full booking sheets, the White Bear Course was no exception, realizing the same high volumes other courses experienced on the May long weekend. The course, which has become a must play destination for avid golfers, did not disappoint.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Petker was enjoying the return of the golfing public, 鈥淚t was great to see members and the public enjoying the golf course and the weather for the weekend鈥.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Members, staff and the White Bear community were very pleased with the opening of the well manicured course that has seen golfers coming from great distances to Challenge the Bear.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The Course has become a centerpiece of the White Bear community and a favourite for golfers in the area.
