Weyburn Rotary to host thank-you supper for health care workers

Rotary is extending thanks to health care workers for their commitment and dedication during the COVID pandemic

WEYBURN – The Weyburn Rotary Club want to show appreciation to local health care workers for their dedication and commitment to the residents of Weyburn and area during the past two years of the COVID pandemic.

The club will be hosting a “thank-you” supper for health care workers on Thursday, June 9 at McKenna Hall, and around 50 health care professionals are expected to be in attendance.

The supper event will include entertainment, words of thanks and a presentation of certificates of appreciation from the Rotary Club.

“This is a significant award for some notable public service. Our health care workers have worked in danger from the virus, they have worked in the confusion of constantly changing policies and public thinking, and they’ve worked in at times some considerable hostility,” said Weyburn club president Doug Loden.

“Our goal is to give a huge thanks to those who have worked so hard attempting to keep us safe and well.”

The award will be presented to those attending the dinner, but the intent is to pass on the thanks and appreciation to all front-line health care workers in the region, who have worked diligently through these difficult days.

Some of the health care facilities contacted for the supper include the Weyburn General Hospital, Weyburn Special Care Home, Mental Health and Addictions, Tatagwa View, Weyburn Emergency Medical Services, Weyburn Home Care, Public Health, Eden Homes, Midtown Care Home, Hilltop Manor and Parkway Lodge.
