WEYBURN – The Weyburn Police Service responded to 90 calls for service during the period of June 6 to 12, resulting in six charges being laid under the Criminal Code of Canada. The criminal charges include assault, assault with a weapon, uttering threats, failing to comply with a breath demand, and failing to comply with a probation order.
Weyburn experienced a couple very busy weeks, kicking off June with the Saskatchewan Oil and Gas Show, followed by a two-day traffic safety initiative involving several officers from across Saskatchewan, and ending off with a successful Graduation ceremony and celebration this past weekend.
The Weyburn Police Service would again like to thank all residents and visitors who helped make these past events safe and enjoyable for everyone. Special thanks to all the graduates, who celebrated their accomplishment with respect and maturity, and this reflected well on the community and the schools. On another note, with the amount of moisture the area has been receiving, local yards are lush as the grass, bushes, and foliage is healthy and thriving. As a reminder to property owners, under the Property Maintenance and Nuisance Abatement Bylaw, property owners are responsible to maintain their property and yard.
Among other things, that includes overgrown grass and weeds, overhanging branches or bushes, and unsightly garbage or junked vehicles. The bylaw can be found under the bylaws section on the City of Weyburn website. If you have a concern regarding a messy yard, a complaint can be made by contacting the bylaw officer at the Weyburn Police Service by phone or email.
