• Estevan, Carnduff and Carlyle RCMP in conjunction with the Â鶹ÊÓƵ East Regional Victim Services are holding a Regimental Ball in Estevan on the 14th of February. All the funds raised are in support of our local Victim Services Unit. Tickets can be obtained at any of the aforementioned Detachments. Please come out for a great evening of tradition and comradery.
• We are assisting the brand inspector with an investigation of missing cattle and missing horses. If you find you have more cattle than you should or some extra horses please contact the brand inspector or the RCMP. This is a better option than taking them to be sold and then being investigated as a thief.
• Staff of Carlyle Detachment participated in the "Bell Lets Talk Campaign" Don't be too proud to talk. There are many professionals out there that are more than willing to help, assist and provide support.
• An individual who is on release conditions to reside at a certain place was found to be breaching their release conditions. The answer of "But my landlord kicked me out" is not sufficient. We did utilize discretion and fortunately for our Detachment, they are no longer are our problem, however, they will still be a problem. We did notify the Detachment that inherited this concern. They were not very gracious with the news.
• I know construction can be frustrating. Can you imagine a fire in the construction zone? It happened at the bridge construction site between Manor and Redvers. Our local volunteers again responded and put the fire out. There is nothing Criminal and our investigation is concluded.
• If you are selling drugs out of a residence and think nobody will figure it out, well they do. Some people are getting annoyed at the amount of traffic caused by this enterprise and they are beginning to co-operate with the Police. I know everyone is expected to have company come to their residence, however, at all hours of the day and night and only for a short duration of time?
• I know this will bother truck lovers, however, we received a report of a Dodge or Chevrolet truck driving in a community in a reckless manner. The complainant wished to remain anonymous. I am guessing the complainant is a Ford driver . . . no, not because they were complaining about the Chevrolet and Dodge. I say that because they would have likely recognized a Ford, or, well we made a patrol and did not locate any truck driving recklessly.
• Every vehicle should have a licence plate on it. Many have other identifying marks including unit numbers, company names or phone numbers with the message "If you don't like my driving call 1-800-. . ." Now if you drove one of those vehicles you would think you would drive responsibly. Unfortunately that is why some companies put the phone number on their vehicles. They want their company to have a good reputation. I have known people to lose their jobs because of their driving.
• We had a report of an individual walking down a main street without pants. An immediate patrol was made and it was determined the individual was wearing shorts and taking advantage of the warmer weather.
• It is understandable to get frustrated when you are asked questions that you don't want to respond to. That said, if you call the Police we will ask a lot of questions. While asking questions we often dispatch Members, however, we will still ask more questions. We are sorry if you don't like it. We also understand that seeing an animal that was struck by a car suffering is difficult. Being short and abrupt with the dispatcher or the Police Officer does not assist anyone. Patrols were made, however, the deer was not located, and unfortunately from the evidence left behind, it will not likely survive.
• We are investigating allegations that someone is illegally cashing another individuals cheques.
• An individual got into a verbal altercation with a tow truck driver. To drive tow truck you tend to be tough and stubborn. The Police were called and the individual was arrested without charges, well being for the tow truck driver it was nothing out of the ordinary. A pellet gun was seized. It looked real enough to us and as one can imagine it could easily be mistaken for a real handgun.
• So you are driving down the road, doing the speed limit, using your signal light, and then there is a Police Officer pulling you over. You tell yourself "But I did nothing wrong" Well technically you are correct being you were not aware that the licence plate on the vehicle you borrowed from your father was stolen. The Police Officer quickly determined there was no foul play on your part or that of you father and SGI issued a new plate. Now the question arises "Do you know what your licence plate is? What often happens is an undesirable individual steals a vehicle. They know it will be reported stolen so the undesirable individual then takes the plate off the stolen vehicle and switches it with a similar vehicle. Pretty sneaky.
• We had a report of harassment through social media. The first step we always recommend is to block them from your social media. Same goes for your cell phone. Just block the number associated. We are investigating this concern.
• An elk was reported to be stuck in a fence. Apparently before the RCMP or conservation could get there to deal with it someone local had cut it loose. Thank you very much to the individual that completed that task.
• We had a report of a vehicle running in a ditch. Upon the arrival of the Police the owner arrived and due to the fact that they allegedly began drinking afterward we kept the keys. No we don't believe them. We did ensure the vehicle did not drive again that night.
• A traffic stop resulted in 41 grams of methamphetamine being seized by one of our traffic Members. Bad day for them, good day for the Police and society.
• We received a report that someone told someone about something that may happen in the future. I can't really get into too much detail but, we did follow up to make sure the something that might happen in the future was not going to happen.
• Members were requested to patrol due to reports of speeders in an area where youth and children frequent. While there an individual approached a Member and told them they were not welcome and should leave. This was the first time the Member had been told that, however, the Member realized the Police are not always welcome and that is an expectation of the job.
• It was foggy and most people, even though in a rush, could not drive very fast.
• Members issued approximately 3 tickets and 20 warnings over the last week.
• Tickets were issued for fail to stop at a stop sign - $230 and most expensive speeding ticket was for $302.
• Warnings were issued for fail to produce drivers licence, inadequate windshield, no insurance, fail to produce drivers licence, inadequate mud flaps and fenders, have auxiliary lamps mounted higher than headlamps, fail to wear a seatbelt, possess more than one copy of a drivers licence and speeding.
• Inspection notices were issued for inadequate headlights, and inadequate tail lights.
