Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý The Carlyle RCMP detachment responded to several calls between Friday, Aug. 26 to Thursday, Aug. 31.
Wawota Fraud
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý One file resulted in the following charges under the Criminal Code of Canada being laid by Carlyle RCMP:
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý A 53-year-old male has been charged with three offences:
1)ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Fraud not exceeding $500
2)ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Possession of property obtained by crime
3)ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Uttering a forged document
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý This individual's court date is set for October in Carlyle Provincial Court.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý It is alleged this individual came to a business agreement with an elderly resident in Wawota, Sask. to reseal his driveway. After the job was completed, it is alleged that this man altered the payment agreement, without the victim's knowledge, to a much higher sum. He then attended the Wawota Credit Union where he immediately cashed the cheque for the increased amount.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Cpl. James Barnett of the Carlyle detachment says: “We urge members of the public to be aware of these scams that often target elderly or otherwise vulnerable people.â€
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý “If you have any questions concerning entering into any business agreement of this type, please contact the RCMP before doing so.â€
Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Fatal Collision near Carlyle
Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý At approximately 7:00 p.m. September 2, 2017 Carlyle RCMP responded to a serious two vehicle collision on Highway # 13 near Carlyle, Saskatchewan. A pickup truck and a motorcycle collided in the west bound lane of Highway # 13.
Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý The three adult occupants of the pickup truck were uninjured in the collision. The 75-year-old female driver of the motorcycle was transported to hospital in Regina. The female passed away from her injuries the following morning – we will not be releasing her name.
Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý ÌýDetours were in place for six hours during the on-scene investigation, the roadway is now clear. An RCMP Collision Reconstructionist and Carlyle RCMP continue to investigate.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Alcohol-related offences
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý RCMP responded to three calls reporting impaired drivers. One driver was located and charged. Police were unable to locate one motorist, while the third was located but found not to be intoxicated.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Assault
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Members are currently conducting two assault investigations. One additional assault investigation within the detachment area has been cleared.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Assistance
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Members conducted one well-being check within the detachment area during this period. The individual in question was found to be fine.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Break and enter
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Carlyle RCMP are investigating a break-in which occurred in the detachment area.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Drugs
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý In Arcola, RCMP members charged an individual with possession of a controlled substance, believed to be cocaine. This individual also had several warrants.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Fraud
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Police investigated two incidences of fraud during this period.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Mental Health Act
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý RCMP dealt with files inder the Mental Health Act this week. One investigation is ongoing.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Mischief
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Members responded to seven reports of mischief during this period. Four files were cleared. Three reports involve: an intoxicated individual found in a residence which was not their own during the early morning and an individual who punched a window and broke it at a residence under construction, both within the Carlyle area. In Arcola, an individual threw dog waste into their neighbour's yard.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Traffic offences
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý RCMP issued a warning to a motorist who was driving with undue care and attention on Hwy #13 near Arcola.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý RCMP issued 14 speeding tickets, four fines (at $580 each) for vehicle insurance violations, two-intersection-related fines (at $230 each) and two seatbelt tickets.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Members also issued five inspection tickets.
