In both cases, members located the motorists and found that they were fatigued, rather than intoxicated. Carlyle RCMP Staff Sgt. Darren Simons says: βWe do not mind these calls at all. Often, just being stopped by police will serve as a wake-up call to these drivers in more ways than one. We all need to work together to ensure our highways are as safe as we can make them.β
ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ Police fined three motorists $580 each for driving unregistered vehicles. βOur traffic vehicles have automatic licence plate readers,β says Staff Sgt. Darren Simons. βThese devices read licences automatically, so the camera sees what we can't see- including if the vehicle is registered.β
ΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύΜύ RCMP members issued 25 speeding tickets, with fines reaching $476. Three motorists were fined $280 each for using cellphones while driving. Police also issued tickets for seatbelt violations, driving without a licence, failure to stop at a posted stop sign and other matters during the week.
