Weekly RCMP report

The week of Jan. 19th to the 26th saw Carlyle Detachment respond to 45 complaints. Jan. 19th reports began with a 911 call. The caller could be heard speaking to a second person, however would not respond to the operator when addressed.

The week of Jan. 19th to the 26th saw Carlyle Detachment respond to 45 complaints.

Jan. 19th reports began with a 911 call.

The caller could be heard speaking to a second person, however would not respond to the operator when addressed.

The call was disconnected at the caller's end.

It was later determined that this was a so-called 'pocket call,' where 911 is dialled inadvertently through speed dial when the phone is bumped or sat upon.

RCMP report this to be a growing issue.

Members responded to a residence in Carlyle to quell a domestic disturbance.

The individual's involved were spoken to, and the issue was resolved.

No charges were laid and the matter is closed.

Responding to a request for assistance from the Regina Police Service (RPS), members attended an individual in Arcola to collect a witness statement on behalf of the RPS.

Members assisted a business in Redvers with a false pretence file.

The matter is still under investigation.

Finally on the 19th, members were called to an oil site to investigate the theft of a 450 ft. power cord.

The matter is under investigation at the time of this writing.

Calls for the 20th began with members responding to an alarm in Arcola.

Members attended, and found the alarm to be false.

A ticket was issued to a 69-year-old female who was stopped in a routine traffic stop.

The individual was found to have no valid driver's licence, and was issued a $150 fine for the offence.

The detachment was contacted by the town of Carlyle to assist with bylaw enforcement, specifically vehicles which had been street parked, and hadn't moved in a significant period of time.

Investigations into the issue are underway.

Members responded to a complaint from the Department of Highways regarding an abandoned vehicle on a highway.

The RCMP would like to remind people that, should your vehicle be left on a highway shoulder due to break-down, please contact the Carlyle or area RCMP detachment so they have a record of the vehicle, it's location, and the owner.

Calls on Jan 21st began with a missing person report.

A male hailing from Lethbridge, AB, had left the community of Kenosee Lake in the evening of Jan. 20th, headed for Regina.

The RCMP were contacted when the complainant became concerned about the individual, and whether they had reached their destination safely.

The individual in question was later found to have reached Regina, and the matter is now closed.

Members were contacted from a resident in the area who wanted assistance in removing unwanted guests from their property.

Members attended, however the individuals in question had already left the complainant's home.

Patrols were unable to find the individuals, and the matter is considered closed.

Two 911 hang up calls had members ready to attend a residence in Wawota, however a follow-up call received from ambulance services in that community suspended the deployment.

The ambulance service reported that the individual at the residence had been ill, and no police presence was needed.

The incident is considered closed.

Members on patrol came across a vehicle with a flat tire on the shoulder of Highway 13.

Members returned to the detachment to contact the vehicle owner, however were unable to do so.

Returning to the scene, the vehicle was found to have been removed.

The sole call for Jan. 22 consisted of an assault complaint.

Upon arrival, members found the fight had ended, and the individuals' involved informed members the melee had been consensual, and no injuries resulted.

The matter is considered closed.

Jan. 23 calls began with a report of a deer collision near the community of Forget.

The vehicle was driveable, and no injuries were reported.

The driver, a 26-year-old male Alberta-resident, asked a report be filed for insurance purposes.

Members on patrol attended a motor vehicle accident at the town of Arcola.

The two-vehicle incident was also attended by ambulance and fire services.

A $230 fine has been laid against a 63-year-old male resident of Regina, for running a stop sign.

A traffic complaint was received from a motorist on Highway 9, north of Carlyle.

The driver complained of a yellow pick-up truck travelling at high speeds and passing in an unsafe manner.

Members patrolled, but were unable to find the vehicle.

The matter remains open at this time.

Carlyle Detachment was accidentally contacted to respond to a rollover accident near the community of Virden, MB.

Members forwarded the call to the RCMP Detachment serving the area.

Members responded to a report of an assault between a 19-year-old and a 48-year-old.

Attending members were able to locate the victim, and determined that alcohol played a roll in the event.

The subject had left the area when members arrived.

No charges were laid in the matter.

Members were called to a residence in the area to remove unwanted guests.

When members arrived, the people in question had left the scene.

The matter is considered closed.

January 24th calls began with a request for assistance at the Pheasant Rump Band Office.

An individual had become loud and abusive while in the offices.

Responding members calmed the situation, and the subject of the call apologized for the outburst.

Nonetheless, a 48-year-old male was taken into custody due to outstanding warrants filed from the RPS.

Members responded to a call from a gas station in Carlyle regarding a car of youth the complainant said were intoxicated.

Members arrived to find the vehicle gone, and patrols were unable to find the vehicle in question.

A concerned citizen contacted the detachment regarding a wounded deer at the roadside in the vicinity of Manor.

The responding member found the deer alive but immobile, and dispatched the animal on scene.

Calls for the 25th of Jan. began with members responding to a call regarding a vehicle which did not have driving lights on.

Patrols were made of the area, but members were unable to locate the vehicle in question.

A complainant contacted the RCMP regarding a white, Ford F150 truck which the complainant asserted had forced him off the road.

The incident, which occurred on a grid road, was reportedly caused due to the F150 driver texting on a cell phone while driving.

Members were unable to locate the vehicle.

A report from the Wawota area was received regarding the theft of a GPS unit from a vehicle.

The complainant informed police that they were unsure of when the theft would have occurred, or where.

The investigation remains open.

The A&W in Carlyle reported the loss of a wireless Interact machine.

The machine, which was used by a customer in a black truck, was not returned before the vehicle left the drive-through.

As of this report, the machine has not been returned, and the file remains open.

Calls for the 26th began with the report of a non-injury MVA on Highway 13 near Redvers.

One of the vehicles was not drivable following the collision, and the involved parties provided a statement at the detachment.

The owner of a vehicle which had been parked at Skyline Hotel in Carlyle reported a theft from vehicle.

The investigation is continuing.

Finally, a report of mischief was made to members from a complainant who alleged that someone had put water into the fuel tank of their vehicle.

The engine was damaged by the water, and the complainant suspected that the water had been put in some time between Jan. 11 and 12.

Members continue to investigate.
