Weekly RCMP report

Between Aug. 9 and 15 there were a total of 25 calls that the Carlyle Detachment of the RCMP received. 911 call A false 911 call was received by a youth. The child's parent was spoken to about the use of 911 as it is an emergency number.

Between Aug. 9 and 15 there were a total of 25 calls that the Carlyle Detachment of the RCMP received.

911 call

A false 911 call was received by a youth. The child's parent was spoken to about the use of 911 as it is an emergency number.

False alarms

RCMP responded to a total of three false alarms throughout the week to businesses in the area.

Assisting the public

A lost cell phone was reported by an individual.

Another cell phone was found and turned into police, who were able to return it to the owner.

Computer scam

A complainant explained they had given out credit card information to a company, which had said the complainant's computer had a virus and needed protection. The matter is under investigation and members would like to remind the public to have their computers checked by a certified computer technician rather than through internet pop-ups or phone calls stating the computer is in need of protection.

Break and enter

A break and entering was reported at a cabin in the White Bear Resort. This matter is currently under investigation.

Stolen alcohol

Campers at Kenosee reported alcohol being stolen from their camp site. RCMP urges the public to store any property which may easily be taken if left unattended.

Hit and run

A hit and run took place at the Red Market Barn, north of Kenosee. Members are in the process of investigating the incident.

Erratic driving

An erratic driver was reported. Patrols were performed and the vehicle was located. The driver was found to be intoxicated and refused a roadside breath sample. The driver was charged with refusal and impaired driving.

Vehicles were reported in Manor as driving erratically. When members arrived they found the vehicles parked. The complaint remains under investigation.

Speeding vehicles were reported on HWY 13, north of Carlyle. Members have decided to increase their patrols in the area.

Impaired driving

While investigating a possible cabin break and enter north of Carlyle a vehicle was stopped near the scene. Members discovered the driver was impaired. The individual was charged and released.

A vehicle stop was performed and the driver showed signs of impairment. The road side screening device showed that the driver's alcohol was just under the legal limit and was issued a 24 hour suspension.

Traffic infractions

A vehicle stop found an unregistered vehicle. A $580 fine was issued to the driver.

A driver was found to be driving an unregistered vehicle with a suspended licence. Two offence tickets were issued and the driver is required to appear in court.

An abandoned vehicle was found in the area. It had been stolen from Calgary. This matter is currently under investigation.

Vehicle collisions

There was a quad rollover near Carlyle, which saw the driver taken by ambulance to the hospital. Alcohol is thought to have been involved and a blood demand was made. A blood demand is a test used in lieu of analysis at the detachment in cases where it is impractical to take the individual to the detachment. This matter is still under investigation.

Members arrived at a motor vehicle collision where a one ton truck had driven into the back of a semi hauling a tanker truck. The pickup driver was injured and taken to hospital, thought to be impaired a blood demand was made. The matter remains under investigation.
