Between April 26 and May 2 the RCMP received 67 calls.
On May 2 there was a fatal collision, which RCMP, EMS, and the Fire Department responded to at 2:30 p.m. Dispatched to an area four miles west of Carlyle on Highway 13 there were two vehicles involved in the collision. The two vehicles struck, travelling opposite directions at highway speed. One, a van with a single occupant, had crossed the centre line travelling east colliding with an armoured van travelling west. The driver and single occupant of the van was killed on impact. The two occupants of the armoured vehicle had minor injuries and were transported to Arcola hospital for treatment. The RCMP collision analyst team attended to determine the cause of the collision, which is still under investigation. Traffic on Highway 13 was rerouted throughout the afternoon and into the evening.
There were two minor collisions reported, one with a deer and the other with a moose.
During this time there were two 911 calls. The first was an offence as no emergency had occurred. The caller was spoken to about their behaviour and warned about the fact that charges can be laid for misuse of 911. The second call was an accidental call; there was no emergency.
There were three animal calls throughout this time. All three were in reference to dogs at large and people being concerned for their safety. Municipalities have bylaws in place in regards to animals at large.
Five assaults took place throughout this week. The first involved a fight at a residence, which the RCMP attended. No one was injured and alcohol was a factor. All of the parties knew each other. At this time the matter is still under investigation.
The second involved young people where no charges or arrests were made.
The third involved a female who was arrested and removed for fighting with the occupants of a residence. No weapons or injuries were involved. The 36-year-old female will be facing charges in court.
The fourth incident took place at a residence. A female was removed and held until sober. At this time no charges have been laid.
The fifth assault also involved young people and one will be facing charges in court for their actions.
There were two requests from other agencies to serve subpoenas.
One request came into the detachment from another agency to locate and interview a suspect.
There were seven false alarms throughout the coverage area of the Carlyle detachment.
A brush fire was reported near Arcola, but it was determined to be a controlled burn.
A 39-year-old male was arrested for disorderly conduct and held until sober in accordance with the White Bear Band bylaw.
There were four complaints of mischief during this time. One was a complaint from Redvers of quads causing damage to land, suspects were not identified.
The second incident was also in the Redvers area where farm equipment was damaged at a yard site. This matter is under investigation.
Unwanted people were reported in Carlyle. Members attended and the people were removed.
The fourth complaint was of an unwanted person causing issues. The suspect had left prior to RCMP arrival.
There was a single call in Redvers regarding dogs barking. In accordance with the Municipal Bylaw the owner was warned, as it was their first offence, but will be fined if it happens again.
A request to locate an individual was submitted to the RCMP. Members located the individual and made the family members aware that he was safe.
A young person was charged with failing to attend court and a warrant was issued for their arrest.
A 21-year-old male was arrested for failing to come to court and a warrant is now out for his arrest.
A 31-year-old male failed to attend court and is being charged under the Summary Offences Procedure Act.
A 48-year-old male was arrested for failing to abide by release conditions. He was held until sober and will be facing charges in court.
A suspicious person was reported north of Carlyle along the highway. Patrols were made, but members were unable to locate the individual. There were no other calls regarding this matter.
Two complaints of persons uttering threats were received. In the first case the RCMP spoke with the parties involved and found alcohol to be a factor. There are no charges at this time. The second case regarded a suspect who entered another person's residence and threatened them. The suspect then left. No one was injured and charges are pending.
A stolen vehicle was reported in Redvers. The vehicle was recovered a short distance from the point at which it had been parked. At this time there are no leads.
A complaint of an erratic driver was received, but the witness refused to give their statement. The RCMP were able to locate the suspect and gave them a warning. Without a statement from the witness no charges can be laid as no supporting evidence exists without the statement.
A vehicle had passed a school bus while the arm was activated. This matter is under investigation.
There was a complaint of a semi driving erratically in the Redvers area. Patrols were made, but the vehicle was not located.
A complaint of dangerous driving was reported. The driver was located and interviewed as were witnesses. It was found there was insufficient evidence to charge the driver.
There was a complaint filed regarding an impaired driver in the Carlyle area. Patrols were made, but a suspect was not located. The matter is still under investigation.
An impaired driver was reported north of Carlyle, but members were unable to locate a suspect. Members currently have no information regarding the vehicle or driver.
A 41-year-old was charged for driving while suspended and will be in court to face the charge.
A 33-year-old was charged with impaired driving on Highway 13 at Arcola. The driver has been released and will be facing charges in court.
Three stop sign tickets of $230 were issued to a 45-year-old male, a 33-year-old female, and a 76-year-old male.
Eight speeding tickets were issued during this time: A 25-year-old male fined $196, a 39-year-old male fined $139, a 65-year-old male charged $200, a 72-year-old male fined $135, a 50-year-old male charged $139, a 24-year-old male fined $182, a 30-year-old male charged $137, and a 52-year-old male fined $138.
