Between May 20 and 26, the Carlyle detachment received 108 calls. This article will review reportable incidents based upon their type, to once again show the amazing variety of situations our police force has to handle.

There were five incidents involving the use of the 911 service, none of which required members to render assistance. Two of the calls were due to problems with resident's lines, with homeowners not even aware of the triggering of the 911 service. A further two calls were "open line" where nothing was heard, and on follow up it was determined no assistance was required. The fifth call was a misdial on the part of the caller, who was trying to reach directory inquiries.

Two calls were in regard to abandoned vehicles, one in Carlyle and the other in the Redvers area. Members investigated these and discovered that neither was a result of theft, and appropriate owners were instructed to have the vehicles towed or otherwise removed.

Two calls came in with reference to animals. One report involved loose horses in a yard near Manor, and the second related to an English bulldog puppy that had been found.

There were three cases of assault in the area, one of which involved weapons. Investigations continue.

Local members assisted with the execution of two warrants on behalf of Saskatoon and Regina police services. Court dates were set in each case, and the individuals were released on their own responsibility.

Four cases of breaking and entering were reported in this period. Two involved businesses, the first in the Kisbey area and the second in Kenosee. In each case there were minor items taken from the establishments, and police investigations led to arrests in both incidents. The remaining two incidents were at domestic properties, both cottages. No charges were laid in the private property incidents.

Members responded to three false alarms at businesses. Two were in Redvers, with the third being located in Kisbey. There were no suspicious circumstances.

One complaint of harassing phone calls was received and investigated. Members spoke to suspects and advised them of possible consequences of such action. No charges were laid.

Over the long weekend, many incidents were connected to high spirits. Three reports on "disturbing the peace" resulted in parties being shut down by members. There were numerous intoxicated individuals present at these events, including some who were under age. In all, 18 liquor-related charges were laid over the holiday. Police remind readers that the following fines can result from misuse of alcohol. Public intoxication carries a fine of $90. Open liquor in public carries a fine of $250. Liquor in a vehicle can result in each individual suspected of drinking being fined $360. Consumption of alcohol by a minor brings a $360 fine to the minor.

Of course, additional charges are laid when a person drinks and drives. There were three cases of individuals being charged with impaired driving in our area, after being stopped by police cruisers. Other traffic violations kept members exceedingly busy in this reporting period. In the Redvers area, a person was found to be driving while under a court order of disqualification. A court date has been set for this person to face charges under the criminal code. There was also a case of hit and run on Carlyle's Main Street, with minimal damage a report was filed for insurance purposes.

A single vehicle roll-over occurred near Redvers, resulting in a person being taken to hospital, there were no charges laid. Meanwhile three intersection charges were handed out to drivers failing to obey a stop sign in Carlyle, one charge of failing to wear a seatbelt was laid, and throughout the area eight speeding tickets were given. There were also six driver licenses suspended relating to liquor, and two traffic collisions with zero injuries.

Various theft complaints were received, including solar lights being taken from a cabin, and diesel fuel stolen from a farm. Two push bikes were reported missing in Carlyle, and a 2009 Can Am Outlander Quad was stolen near Kennedy, with the incident being investigated by the Carlyle detachment.
