Weekly RCMP report

The Carlyle Detachment of the RCMP responded to a total of 92 calls in the week of May 18 to the 24th. During this period, the detachment wrapped up Canada Road Safety Week.

The Carlyle Detachment of the RCMP responded to a total of 92 calls in the week of May 18 to the 24th.

During this period, the detachment wrapped up Canada Road Safety Week.

Over the course of the week, increased traffic enforcement led to a total of 290 traffic tickets being issued by members of the Carlyle detachment.

Further, due to increased patrolling in response to the May long weekend, a total of 148 liquor violations were cited.

Calls on May 18th began with two tickets being issued.

A 28-year-old male was ticketed in the vicinity of the community of Manor for no seatbelt, and a 25-year-old passenger in the same vehicle received a no seatbelt ticket as well.

The fine for the offense is $175.

A vehicle stop near the village of Kenosee Lake led to a pair of tickets being issued, as well as a 24-hour driving suspension.

The vehicle's driver was exhibiting signs of intoxication, and on roadside screening, was found to be borderline on blood-alcohol level.

Within the vehicle were open bottles of beer.

The driver and passenger both received tickets in the amount of $360 for the open alcohol, and the driver was issued the driving suspension.

A call of a possible impaired driver led to a 19-year-old male being charged with DUI offenses.

Members patrolled and located the subject vehicle, which yielded to police.

The driver failed a roadside screening, and was transferred to the detachment for further testing.

There, the individual twice failed a sobriety test, and has now been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, and impaired operation of a motor vehicle over 0.8.

A 911 call was received from an individual who requested that members come and take them away, then the call disconnected.

Members were unable to contact the caller again.

Members responded to a call from a business in Kenosee Lake.

The business had called complaining of two intoxicated individuals who were creating a scene at the establishment.

Members attended, however the subjects were gone by the time police arrived.

A caller reported a young woman passed out on the road near Kenosee Lake.

The caller stated they would stay with the girl to make sure she wasn't hit by traffic, and wanted members to tell them what to do.

Members responded, and a 25-year-old woman was transferred to cells for holding, and has been fined $200 for public intoxication.

A complainant contacted police to report that their 15-year-old daughter had arrived home drunk.

The caller requested members attend to a residence where the caller stated the young woman had been given liquor.

Members attended, but no signs of underage drinking were evident.

The case is considered closed.

A false alarm brought members to a business in Kenosee Lake. After patrolling the property, and a second inspection by the keyholder, it was found nothing was amiss.

A 911 call was received by members from a residence in the area requesting members remove an unwanted person. When members arrived, the subject had already left.

A call was received at the detachment reporting the sound of gunfire. Members attended and found evidence of fireworks, but found no evidence of gunfire.

The caller was so informed.

Members were contacted by a local fire department to report a vehicle which had passed a fire truck illegally, crossing a solid line on the highway.

Members contacted the vehicle owner, who admitted to being the driver, and who then apologized for the offense, stating they did not know they had crossed a solid line.

The driver was issued a warning.

A complaint was received of a white truck stunting on roads near Carlyle.

Members patrolled by could not locate the subject vehicle.

A 911 call was received complaining of a red vehicle, east-bound on Highway 13 near Kisbey that was being driven erratically.

Members patrolled, but were unable to find the vehicle.

A complaint was received reporting two vehicles parked in such a way as to impede traffic at a business.

Members informed the caller to contact a tow company and have the vehicles removed.

A caller reported a dog barking in Carlyle.

Members made note of the call.

Members responded to a call from a business in Kenosee Lake.

An individual at the business requested police be contacted as they needed to speak with police about an issue.

Members attended and spoke with the individual, after which everything was fine.

Members did note while attending several violations taking place in the area, and tickets were issued.

Calls on the 19th began with a 911 call from an individual who sounded intoxicated, and was asking for help. When speaking with the operator, the call was disconnected on the caller's end.

Members attended the residence the call originated and found no one home, however when leaving, the vehicle owned by the home owner was spotted driving erratically.

Members pulled the car over and found the driver, who admitted to calling 911, in a state of intoxication.

A roadside screening device showed the driver to be borderline on their blood alcohol content, so a 24-hour driving suspension was issued.

Further, open liquor was found in the vehicle, so both driver and passenger were issued tickets in the amount of $360 for that offense.

Two stop sign violations were ticketed.

A 27-year-old male and a 20-year-old male were each issued tickets in the amount of $230 in two different stops.

Members assisted Conservation members in dispersing a crowd at a party at a residence in Kenosee Lake.

A fight had broken out, and more than 100 individuals were reported to be at the party.

The homeowner requested assistance in clearing the crowd.

All alcohol was seized and dumped, and an 18-year-old male who was belligerent with police was taken to cells for the night and ticketed for possession of alcohol by a minor.

A call for assistance was received from an establishment in Kenosee Lake.

The business, which was at capacity inside, and had the same amount of persons awaiting entry, complained of an individual who was inciting the 300+ crowd of people.

Members attended and located the provocateur, who was escorted from the premises.

A complaint was received from Moose Mountain Provincial Park of youths walking across an individual's lot.

Members attended and noted two separate parties occurring within close proximity to the caller's property, but were unable to locate the trespassers.

A complaint of assault drew members to a residence in the area.

When they arrived, they found no evidence of assault, and the caller, who was intoxicated, thanked members for attending.

A call from Reston Detachment of the RCMP was received to be aware of a reported impaired driver heading into Saskatchewan on Highway 13 from Manitoba.

Members patrolled and located the subject vehicle.

The driver, who was sober, explained they had done some exceptional manoeuvers on the Manitoba side of the border to avoid pot holes in the highway.

Reston detachment was contacted and informed.

An individual contacted police to report a wallet, red and black, lost in the town of Carlyle.

A complaint was received of threats being uttered in the community of Kisbey.

The matter is under investigation.

A 911 call led to an arrest for public intoxication, but not in the way one might expect.

The caller informed police that they were in need of a ride home from the village of Kenosee Lake.

Members informed the caller that police could not provide taxi services.

Later in the day, the caller was arrested on the aforementioned charge when they were found at a business.

A call was received from Kenosee Lake reporting a break-in in progress at a residence next door to the caller.

Members attended and located a 25-year-old male.

It is believed the male, who was intoxicated, mistook the property for their own residence.

The male was charged with public intoxication, as there was no evidence of a break in at the property.

Members took a 16-year-old into custody and issued two tickets, in the amounts of $200 and $360, following a call to assist in breaking up a party.

A call was received reporting a body on Highway 9 near Kenosee Lake, which was not moving.

The caller informed members they had stopped their car in front of the person with their hazard lights on to ensure the individual was not hit.

Members attended and took a 25-year-old male into custody, and laid charges for public intoxication.

May 20 calls began with a request to remove two intoxicated individuals from Moose Mountain Provincial Park.

Members attended, but the subjects had left by the time members arrived.

A ticket in the amount of $230 was issued to a 45-year-old male in Carlyle for failing to yield at a stop sign.

A 911 call was received reporting a deer/vehicle MVC near Wawota.

No injuries were reported, and the vehicle was damaged in the impact.

A report was taken for insurance purposes.

A 911 call was received reporting a fight between 6-10 youths near Moose Mountain Provincial Park.

Members attended and found the group to be a bunch of friends who were horse-playing.

The caller was contacted and informed.

Several calls were received reporting a bush fire in the area.

White Bear First Nations fire services responded to the blaze.

A call to the detachment reported several youths at Kenosee Lake stealing canoes was received.

Members attended and located a group of 12 persons at a beach by the lake.

All ranged in age between 15 and 19 years, and all were ticketed, either for minors consuming ($360) or for the adults, public consumption ($250).

A complaint of theft was received from Kenosee Lake.

The caller stated that their golf bag and clubs had been taken from their porch area over night.

The matter is now under investigation.

A report of a large fight led to one man being arrested.

While breaking up the crowd of more than 100 persons, members located an individual who was wanted on warrants in Estevan.

The individual was taken into custody, and released on papers.

Three roadside stops led to three 24 hour driving suspensions being issued.

The 21st of May began with a call to remove an individual from business in Kenosee Lake.

Members attended and arrested a 26-year-old male for public intoxication.

An 18-year-old male was also removed from the location for public intoxication.

A report was received of 10 wooden pallets, blue in colour, being stolen from a residence in Kenosee Lake.

A complaint was received about underage drinking at Moose Mountain Provincial Park.

The caller was informed that patrols were ongoing, and several incidents had been dealt with.

A false alarm drew members to a residence in Arcola.

After patrolling the area, members found the premises to be secure.

Calls for the 22nd began with a request to remove an unwanted person from a residence in the area.

Arguing could be heard in the background during the call.

Members attended and relocated a 24-year-old female to another location.

A complaint was received from the community of Manor regarding a modified dune buggy.

The caller stated the vehicle, which was un-plated, was driving on roads.

The vehicle was not located.

A report of a head-on collision was received. The collision occurred on Highway 9, and minor injuries were reported.

A summons was served to an individual in the area.

The Ministry of Justice writ for court appearance was delivered.

A report of theft was made from the area.

The caller stated a 185 gallon water tank had been stolen from outside a home.

Members are investigating the event.

Another report of theft was received from Kenosee Lake.

The complainant stated that they had left their front door unlocked, and two small electronic items were stolen from the front room.

The matter is under investigation.

An individual is facing charges related to the first call for the Carlyle RCMP on May 23.

The report of a possible impaired driver drew members to patrol Highway 9, where they located the subject vehicle.

The driver failed a roadside screening test, and later failed a breath analyzer test at the detachment.

The individual now faces charges of impaired operation, and operation over 0.8, as well as driving with a suspended license.

A complaint of theft was made from Kenosee Lake.

The caller detailed that an Petro Canada card, as well as a cell phone were stolen from the residence.

The caller, who was in the back yard at the time, heard a noise in the house, and upon entry, found the two items missing from a table by the front door.

Members are investigating.

A report of a hit-and-run was taken by members.

The complainant was unsure of when or where the damage had occurred.

A report was filed for insurance purposes.

A report of theft was made from Arcola.

The caller stated that their 2004 Honda 250cc motor bike had been taken off of their back porch.

The vehicle was not plated.

Members are investigating.

A report was made of a hit-and-run in Carlyle.

The damage, which had occurred overnight, was noted, and a report was filed for SGI.

May 24th began with a request to located a 16-year-old who had not returned home.

As of this writing, the investigation is continuing.

Members executed a search warrant at a residence in Carlyle, leading to multiple arrests for drug possession and related charges.

Assisted by dog units from the Regina RCMP, members located amounts of cocaine and marijuana at the residence.

Five individuals were taken into custody at the home, and a sixth was later arrested when they turned themselves over to police.
