The Wawota Curling Rink was the lucky winner in the Original 16 Curling Club "Sweep" Stakes presented by Great West Brewing. The club will receive a $1,500 club improvement grant, Jet ice 016 In House Logo and a free afternoon adult learn to curl clinic. Kudos to Kristin Murray for entering for this win!

Three Wawota residents celebrated their 90th birthdays this past month. Knud Hansen, who is a resident of Deer View Lodge on Jan. 2. Marie Jensen, a resident at the Maryfield Sunrise Villa, celebrated on January 22nd. She enjoyed a birthday cake and several family members visited from outside at the window.

And on Jan. 25, Geraldine Kidson who is a resident of Deer View Lodge, celebrated. Happy birthday to all three nonagenarians.

Sympathy is extended to Ken and Monique Myers and family on the passing of Monique's brother-in-law, Brian Campeau of Gatineau, Que. He passed away on Dec. 30 at the age of 68 years. He was here last fall to help Ken with the harvest. This is a precious memory especially with his unexpected passing. His wife, Louise, who was Monique's sister, passed away in the spring of 2019.
