Joan Gartner of Montreal spent several days visiting with her parents, George and Suzanne Eisler. She also reconnected with some of her friends from bygone years.
Congratulations to Theoren West, who travelled to Surrey. B.C., last weekend to participate in the Maple Leaf Junior Tour National Golf Tournament.  He shot 78, 77 and 79 to place eighth. There were participants from across Canada. Theoren was awarded the MJT Saskatchewan Order of Merit.

Quade Jackson is now the proud owner of the former Thomas and Betty Walker residence at 619 Hill Ave.
Family members of the Johnson family had an early Thanksgiving on the weekend of Oct. 3. The following weekend, Darryl and Neena Johnson, Hanna and Austin travelled to Chateau Lake Louise, Alta.  They attended a COVID-style wedding (only a few attendees) of Camille Robinson and Alex Bowyer.
Camille is the daughter of Neena's cousin, Tanis (La Rose) Robinson.
The deadline for nominations for town councillor and mayor, and reeves and councillors, was Oct. 7. It is encouraging to see the interest in these elections.
Running for town councillor are incumbents Kathy Hamilton, Allan Bunz, Mike Greenbank and Dan Nicurity, and newcomers Dwayne Linder, Jordan Ethier and Rob Pilloud. Mayor candidates are Shawn Murray and Kevin Kay.  Â
Those who can vote ... 18 years old and either have lived in Wawota for at least three months or own property in Wawota. I find it difficult to know who to vote for as I know these candidates as friends or neighbours but don't necessarily know how much they would contribute as members of the town council. We need to get to know the new comers and see what ideas and work ethics they have.
Election day is Nov. 9.
