What impact has COVID-19 had on the Town of Wawota in 2020 and how has the community been dealing with it?

COVID-19 has had a negative impact on every community group/facility in town, with the shutdown affecting fundraising options and lack of income for the facilities it has been a struggle for them, but things could be a lot worse.

What do you see for the future for your town in 2021?

I hope to see a steady rebound for the town in 2021, we really have been lucky that we haven’t had any outbreaks of COVID. As a community we have really supported our local business well.

What improvements do you see for your town in 2021?

We have had a busy couple years previously so have no major infrastructure improvements planned this year. We just completed a $75,000 improvement at the water treatment plant.

What message would you like to send out to your community?

I would like to thank the town for the resilience we have shown through this struggling time. We have all worked together to support one another and our efforts are showing. Please continue to support our local business community so that they can serve us in the future. With the vaccine rollout there is light at the end of this tunnel.
