Two new cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan; seven more recoveries

There are two new cases of COVID-19 to report, the Ministry of Health said Friday bringing the total to 815 cases. Both of the new cases are in the central region. Of the 815 reported COVID-19 cases in Saskatchewan, 43, or about 5.

There are two new cases of COVID-19 to report, the Ministry of Health said Friday bringing the total to 815 cases. Both of the new cases are in the central region.

Of the 815 reported COVID-19 cases in Saskatchewan, 43, or about 5.3 per cent, are considered active.听

Seven more people have recovered, bringing Saskatchewan鈥檚 total to 757. About 93 per cent of those diagnosed with the virus are listed as recovered.

Four people are in hospital. Two individuals are receiving inpatient care in the north and one in Saskatoon. One person is in intensive care in Saskatoon.

Sixty-eight cases have been diagnosed in the south region. Five are considered active. There have been 339 cases from the far north, 192 from the Saskatoon area, 120 from the north, 80 from the Regina area and 16 from the central region.

Of the 815 cases in the province, 168 cases are travellers, 485 are community contacts (including mass gatherings), 115 have no known exposures and 47 are under investigation by local public health.

Fifty-five cases are health care workers; however, the source of the infections may not be related to health care in all instances.

A total of 118 cases involve people 19 years of age and under, 285 cases are in the 20-39 age range, 255 are in the 40-59 age range, 136 are in the 60-79 age range and 21 are in the 80-plus range.

Fifty-one per cent of the cases are females and 49 per cent are males.

Fifteen deaths related to COVID-19 have been reported.

To date, 72,560 COVID鈥19 tests have been performed in Saskatchewan. As of July 8, when other provincial and national numbers were available from the Public Health Agency of Canada, Saskatchewan鈥檚 per capita rate was 53,513 people tested per million population.听 The national rate was 82,422 people tested per million population.
