The Expressway Family Centre in Oxbow held their annual Twisted Tree Auction last week and according to Stephanie Barnes, program co-ordinator of the centre, it was one of their most successful years yet.
鈥淲e raised over $9,600 this year, which is great considering we had to do the whole thing online this year due to COVID,鈥 Barnes explained.
The money raised by this fundraiser goes towards the operating budget for the centre. The Expressway Family Centre is a non-profit organization in Oxbow that offers free to very low cost programs to different members of the community.
They also have a preschool and playschool program and drop-in programs. The goal of the centre is to promote family connections and healthy things for families and children.
There were 95 items donated for this year鈥檚 auction and all the items were sold, paid for and picked up. It was a great success for the centre. Barnes explains that they have a few more fundraisers lined up for next year but due to COVID restrictions they are unsure if they will be able to hold them.
It鈥檚 why this year鈥檚 Twisted Tree Auction was such an important one.
Barnes and the rest of the Expressway Centre family would like to thank everyone for their generosity, donations and purchases that made this years Twisted Tree Auction so successful.
