聽 聽 聽 Launch day for the Town of Carlyle's switch to single-stream recycling is Thursday, June 4; and residents are asked to have both of their existing (green and blue) recycling carts set out on Thursday, May 21, so that Regens Disposal can exchange them for a single cart.

聽聽聽聽 鈥淥ur first pickup under the new system is June 4,鈥 says Logan Baniulis of Regens. 鈥淲e're asking that people put out their two existing recycling carts-but not their grey garbage cart- out on May 21, so we can make the transition as smooth as possible.鈥

聽聽聽聽 鈥淚 think people will really appreciate the ease of use under the single-stream system,鈥 says Baniulis. 鈥淭hey don't have three carts cluttering up their driveway, and they only have to keep track of two carts and two pickup days.鈥

聽聽聽聽 Baniulis says that most recyclable materials will go into the new single cart. 鈥淚t all goes in loose. The exceptions are shredded paper, that we ask be tied up in a grocery bag. If someone has a bunch of plastic grocery bags they want to recycle, we ask that they put them all in one grocery bag, and tie that up, too. That's mainly because if it's a windy day, the last thing we want is a bunch of loose paper or plastic blowing out onto people's streets.鈥

聽聽聽聽 Other than these exceptions, recyclables are to be put in the cart loose, says Baniulis. 鈥淕lass bottles, paper, plastics numbered from one to seven, it all goes in together. It's then processed in Bienfait and sent on to Saskatoon.鈥

聽聽聽聽 Baniulis says Regnens aims to provide residents with increasing ease of use, as changes are made to the recycling program.

聽聽聽聽 鈥淥ur first recycling program is Thursday, June 4. We're keeping Thursday as our recycling pickup day in Carlyle. It'll be every other week, instead of twice monthly. We hope that will make it that much easier for people to keep track.

聽聽聽聽 鈥淲e've also introduced a reminder service. People can set it up to they receive reminders via text message, email, Twitter, or by phone. To sign up, they can either call (306)-634-7209, or by going to regensdisposal.ca.

聽聽聽聽 鈥淪ingle-stream recycling has already been launched in Arcola and Wawota, and we think the residents of Carlyle will appreciate the added ease and convenience of it, too.鈥
