Town council met for their usual meeting on Wednesday, May 15 where they discussed issues relevant to Carlyle; however there was no topic that took precedence over the other that evening.
Mayor Don Shirley and the aldermen in attendance discussed several policies, issues and potential plans concerning the town. Alderman Jennifer Sedor discussed her ongoing idea of bringing eco-friendly affordable homes to Carlyle, highlighting plans to meet with representatives of Verico Homes to discuss the possibilities. However council emphasized their limitations of bringing the developers in but was open to meeting and exploring different ideas.
Roy Olmstead introduced a senior housing discussion which is related to the Saskatoon Community Foundation who is set to have a meeting next month in Weyburn. Council also deliberated over the bylaw no. 2013-04 regarding the official community plan and motions to rescind the second and third read and pass new motions. The consensus was met and a motion was moved to have the second and third reading rescinded.
Council also discussed day care, the engineers report on sewer main, the lagoon project and the railway crossing. All were topics that require more communication with the relevant representatives to have further discussion and points of finalization. Council also received various forms of information, including the 2013 RCMP cost, proposed lagoon expansion, the Saskatchewan Housing Corporation 2012 annual report and info regarding Beatty and Anderson subdivisions.
New business for the meeting that evening had discussions that surrounded the extension of 7th Street East.
