WEYBURN - Brief notes recorded during the Sept. 20 meeting of the board of trustees of the Â鶹ÊÓƵ East Cornerstone Public School Division:

  • Three schools applied for and have been granted the opportunities to provide the Lord’s Prayer during assemblies or prior to certain activities. This annual request and approval was extended to Carievale School, Gladmar School and MacLeod Elementary School in Moosomin.
  • During a brief public discussion regarding the usual in-camera handling of personnel issues, director of education Keith Keating reported there were no vacant teaching positions noted in the Cornerstone division at that time, not even in the usual difficult-to-fill positions.
  • Spruce Ridge School in Estevan has been granted permission to extend the naming rights protocol to Tundra Oil & Gas to recognize that company’s contribution to the construction and opening of the school’s outdoor amphitheater, the only one in the school division.

The next public session for the Cornerstone board, which will be live-streamed, will occur on Oct. 11, beginning at 1 p.m. in the conference room at the division’s head office in Weyburn.
