Students at Assiniboia Park Elementary School raised $10,921.20 for Multiple Sclerosis (MS) research, becoming the top fundraising school in the province and forcing their principal and teachers onto the roof.Students began raising money in April when they participated in the MS Read-a-Thon, achieving two goals - to encourage the students to read more and to raise money for the MS Society of Canada. As a result of raising so much money, principal Vickie Betker and teachers Tammy Manning and Kevin Butz agreed to spend one night on the roof of the school on May 26.Finally, as part of the fundraising challenge, Butz, who regularly shaves his head, agreed to grow his hair out until the last day of school.
