Stoughton looking for nominations for Volunteer Appreciation Award

The Stoughton Chamber of Commerce is excited to present a Volunteer Recognition Supper on May 2. Sponsored by Farrell Agencies this year's event is free, though tickets are needed to make it through the door. They can simply be picked up at the Poplar Tree Inn, Town Office, and Farrell Agencies.

"The Chamber of Commerce believes it is an important part of a small community and individuals should be recognized for their contributions," Danielle Hoffman, a member of the Stoughton Chamber of Commerce, stated.

Though the Chamber of Commerce has held the event in the past, it recently restarted last year with help from past winner Dan Coderre, who had been involved with the Golf Course, Swimming Pool, and Memorial Hall events.

"Our winner last year was Ann Kernaleguen," Hoffman explained. "She is the vet in town and is also very active with our 4-H club. She is the President of the Chamber of Commerce as well."

The catered supper will be held at Memorial Hall where presentations, camaraderie, and community spirit will be bountiful.

"There will be an awarded presentation honouring the recipient for this year," Hoffman stated.

In addition to the celebration of the Volunteer Appreciation Award, a guest speaker will present to the crowd: "Dave Nussbaumer, with Farrell Agencies, will be speaking about his trek to the base camp of Mount Everest."

The event is free this year, though organizers hope to see it become a gala event in the future with a wider array of award categories.

If someone in the community would like to nominate an individual for the award forms are available at any of the Stoughton Chamber of Commerce businesses or at the Town Office. Hoffman also explained email versions are available through messaging her at [email protected].

"It is going to be a great night," Hoffman said. "Every year gets a little better and I am very excited for next year's event! This is a valuable evening for a small community to help show those in the community that lend[ing] that extra hand doesn't go unnoticed and that we thank them every day."
