With new doctors arriving at the Arcola Family Health Clinic, good things have also come to the town of Stoughton.
Though last year during doctor shortages and the Arcola Hospital closures Dr. M.L. Morin continued to perform duties in Stoughton and Lampman.
Now, however, the pressure for physicians in Stoughton will be alleviated even more as the clinic will be open two days a week with doctors out of Arcola Clinic rotating duties in Stoughton on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
"There has always been a doctor from Arcola come out one day a week, Dr. Morin has been doing that since she arrived in Arcola and now with two days available it's been busy," Carol Dickie, receptionist at the Stoughton Health Clinic, explained.
Appointments in Stoughton may be booked through contacting the Arcola Clinic at (306)455-2287 or the Stoughton Clinic at (306)457-2444.
On Wednesdays the Stoughton Health Clinic will be open between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. for appointments, while lab services from Fillmore are available Wednesday mornings from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
On Thursdays the doctors will work in the nursing home in Stoughton and will then have hours available at the Stoughton Clinic from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Dickie explained the community has been pleased with the additional service as the Stoughton Clinic can be quite busy.
"This is about three weeks that we've had the second day and it takes off quite a bit of pressure, making it easier for people here," Dickie stated.
With busy, full days she said that the increased hours of physicians available to the community has been a great help.
