WEYBURN – Â鶹ÊÓƵeast College held the second of two open houses on Wednesday at their Weyburn campus, featuring information on their programs as well as post-secondary and career options from colleges and universities, the RCMP and the Canadian Armed Forces.
In addition to program information, the teach-and-trim hair salon demonstrated with some haircuts, including of a reservist who was with the Armed Forces booth.
The schools represented included the University of Regina and Luther College, Dumont Technical Institute, Olds College, Parkland College, Lakeland College, Great Plains College, the Recording Arts Institute of Saskatoon, the University of Calgary, the University of Lethbridge and the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission.
A special guest to the open house was Kathryn Groshong, who was on the original board when Â鶹ÊÓƵeast Regional College formed in 1975.
She was given a tour of the open house displays, as well as of the classroom facilities at the Weyburn campus.
She noted that around 1977, her late husband Fred took the adult education program to get his high school diploma, one of the first to do so, when they lived on their farm at Torquay.
