As communities take measures to ensure the safety of the people of Saskatchewan, we would like to share how we’ve been doing our part to ensure you can continue to rely on us as your Provincial Police Service.
We know each community has a unique response to the recent COVID-19 outbreaks. Our detachments continue to work closely with each of these communities and local Saskatchewan Health Authority Representatives to ensure the steps we take to keep you safe are also the right steps to take to help keep you healthy.
These steps include regular cleaning and sanitization of detachments, workspaces and police vehicles to keep our work environment as clean as possible for our employees and members of the public. We have hand-sanitizing stations and disposable masks available in detachments and buildings with public access. We have placed signage and floor markings to help encourage physical distancing.
To support the steps communities are taking to reduce the spread of COVID-19, detachments in areas with an increased number of positive COVID-19 cases may temporarily restrict public access to the detachment to emergency requests for service only. As a result, we encourage you to phone your local detachment prior to visiting in person to determine if any changes are taking place. Find the phone number of your local RCMP detachment here: .
If assistance can be provided to you over the phone, an employee or police officer will do so. If your request requires personal contact with an officer, that decision will be made over the phone.
The decision to limit public contact by managing non-emergency situations over the phone was made to ensure the health of the public and our employees so that we are able to continue providing essential services across Saskatchewan.
As Saskatchewan's provincial police, we will continue to maintain operations and doing our part to slow the spread of the virus. Your local police officers will continue to be present in your community to provide services and ensure community safety 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
We thank communities across Saskatchewan for their support to the RCMP and we encourage everyone to continue following guidance from health officials to ensure we can all remain healthy.
