Moose Mountain Artists' Colony Art Classes will be held in August. Saskatchewan artist Nikki Jacquin will be teaching a variety of classes. These sessions are open for youth of seven years to adults, but all children must be accompanied by an adult in any of the sessions.

On Aug. 11 there will be two different classes offered. Outdoor Watercolour will focus on scenic elements. If the weather cooperates a lawn chair is required, so the participants are able to sit outside; however, if the weather is poor then a painting will be created together indoors. This class will take a minimum of four students and a maximum of 12. The second class on Aug. 11, held in the afternoon, focuses on lino cutting and how to make homemade cards. During the class you will be able to create two cards. The lino cut class will be open to a maximum of nine students.

August 12 will see workshops in acrylic painting. The first will be a beginner landscape workshop. Students will create a painting of a Saskatchewan trail. The afternoon will focus on acrylic portrait painting. Both of these have a maximum limit of 12 students.

There will be no classes available on Monday, Aug 13. On Aug. 14 there will be another workshop focused on outdoor watercolour works. While, on Aug. 15 Jacquin will host a seascape beginner acrylic workshop. It will focus on creating your own painting of canoeing on a lake. These two classes will each have a maximum of 12 people for lessons.

Nikki Jacquin has been working as an artist for years. She established, Nikki's Portraits of Childhood, in 1995 based in Regina. Prior to this she had operated, on a part-time basis, Sacchetti Portraits. After creating works which featured her own children she was soon requested to paint other families.

She is a very talented and knowledgeable artist. With small classes being offered at Moose Mountain Provincial Park it will allow for her to focus her attention on her students and be available for questions throughout the sessions.

Since 2010 Jacquin has been an instructor for Grumbacher Acrylics. She is also the Guest Artist in Residence in Cypress Hills July 3 to 15 and Sept. 10 to 23.
