聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 The Arcola School鈥檚 grade three and four students were particularly pleased to welcome Dan Clark with the Saskatchewan Roughriders to their school.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Visiting on Wednesday, March 21, Arcola School was a sea of green to welcome the Roughrider鈥 aside from a lone staff member dressed in red, good heartedly supporting their team 鈥 the Calgary Stampeders.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Participation in Rider Reading Month included showing the Riders on Facebook and Twitter who have been 鈥渞iderizing鈥 their reading. The initiative is one that encourages students to pick up a book and read 鈥 literacy is the backbone of education.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 This is not the first year Judy Naylen鈥檚 class received the visit either, in 2015 鈥 during the first year for the event 鈥 they earned a visit from Paul Woldu.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Participation in this year鈥檚 Rider Reading Month included 10,436 students across the province in 376 classrooms, at 178 participating schools, across 85 towns.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 While visiting Arcola School the School Representative Council organized a fun relay for students pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12 to participate in with a high-five from Clark as the relay end.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Clark also stopped by Naylen鈥檚 classroom where the students had an opportunity to ask questions and were particularly delighted to be read a story by Clark.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淢y students鈥 favourite part was when Dan Clark read Peanut Butter and Cupcake with cool voices for each character,鈥 Naylen explained. 鈥淭hey also thought it was super neat that the little Pre-K were involved.鈥
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淚 appreciate the Roughriders鈥 organization for their support of reading in our province. It鈥檚 so nice to see leaders stepping up to show that reading is cool!鈥
