Carlyle Town Council held their regular bi-weekly meeting Wednesday, Sept. 20 at the Carlyle Civic Centre. Council's next regularly-scheduled meeting will take place at the Civic Centre at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 4.

ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Council reminds Carlyle residents that the Town of Carlyle will hold a free appliance pick-up from town alleyways on Saturday, Oct. 21. Anyone wishing to drop off trash at the transfer station on Oct. 21 can also do so on that day, free of charge.Â
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Dutch Elm Disease Management
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý As part of its Dutch Elm Disease management strategy, the Town of Carlyle has contracted DR. Tree Service to basal spray American Elm trees on town property during the week of September 24-30. Employees of DR. Tree Service may be required to go in and out of properties in Carlyle to access these trees.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý The process involves spraying the bottom half of the tree in order to help prevent the overwintering of elm bark beetles, which may be carrying the Dutch Elm Disease spores. This spray is not harmful to humans or pets, but as a precaution contact with the trees should be avoided for one hour after spraying. ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Carlyle will host Provincial Volleyball Championships from November 17-19, 2017. A representative from council will convey greetings from the Town of Carlyle to competitors and visitors.Â
