WEYBURN - Residents are being encouraged to ‘Fall in Love with Communithon’ at this year’s 42nd annual telethon fundraiser on Friday, Oct. 27 at the Weyburn Legion Hall, with the fundraising goal of $82,023.
The event will start at 8 a.m. with the opening ceremonies and the Weyburn Comp School’s RISE Choir, and will run until 11 p.m., with many schools and local groups and performers providing the entertainment throughout the day.
Each year performers come out and help to raise much-needed funds for the 10 community agencies so they can continue to provide their valuable programs and services for the citizens of the city and surrounding area. This is the one single fundraiser that allows you to stretch your dollar. Your one donation helps to support 10 local agencies.
The Entertainment Committee has created a jam-packed schedule, filled with hours of talent, dancing, singing, and many laughs to be had.
The school groups will include groups from Legacy Park Elementary, St. Michael School, choirs and bands from the Weyburn Comprehensive School, Assiniboia Park Elementary, and several performers from the community.
A highlight will be the Monster Mash, where anyone in costume is invited to come up and dance for the cameras at 4:40 p.m., followed by a full schedule of dancers and singers from Weyburn and area until 11 p.m.
The live event will be broadcast by AccessNow on the community channel, and donations can be made online or in person at the Legion Hall.
Local residents won’t want to miss this annual event. Grab your friends and family, and head down to the Weyburn Legion on Friday.
The Youth Ambassadors will be making appearances throughout the day, with some special activities planned to bring the “hype” and “Community” back to Communithon.
