Regina Police Service used a taser to subdue a suspect on Thursday night, who is now facing theft charges.

REGINA — Regina police deployed a taser during an arrest involving one adult male on Thursday, after the suspect attempted to resist.

At approximately 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 16, police identified a Ford F350 truck that had been reported stolen parked on the 2700 block of 5th Avenue.

While attempting to arrest the driver, identified as 31-year-old Justin Martineau, he became resistant and combative. Police used a taser to subdue Martineau, and then transported him to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Following the arrest, police then searched the truck and recovered stolen property. No details were shared as to what.

Martineau has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, as well as resisting arrest.

He will make his first appearance in provincial court on Friday afternoon.
