Each year Regens Disposal Ltd. hosts a fundraising barbeque for two communities they work in. This year they chose Lampman and Arcola.

Through contacting the town office of these communities they find a cause to donate to. The Town of Arcola mentioned the Arcola Daycare was a very good choice and a BBQ was held on Thursday, Aug. 28.

"Regens contacted me to see if we would be interested and if there was a group in town that came to mind to give the funds raised to," Christie Peddie, Arcola's Town Administrator, explained. "I knew the daycare was looking to upgrade and we began planning the barbeque from there."

The Chaparral then helped by barbequing the hotdogs, while the BBQ used was brought to the event by Champion, and Phyllis Cameron known as "the Cinnamon Bun Lady" donated cinnamon buns to the cause. Working the BBQ included employees of the town and daycare.

The Arcola Co-op also generously donated $500 and while people came and went, a total of $1,235 was raised. This number was then matched by Regens which led to a total combined amount of $2,470 given to the Arcola Daycare.

"With help cooking from the Chaparral Restaurant & Lounge, serving from the Arcola Daycare and Town of Arcola employees the day went smooth and produced a good lunch for anyone attending," writes Logan Baniulis, Regens Sales Manager, to the Town of Arcola. "We would also like to recognize Phyllis Cameron for donating her famous homemade cinnamon buns!"

Coming together on Wednesday, Sept. 17, Peddie and Baniulis stopped by the Arcola Daycare to present Whitney Rutten, Arcola Daycare Director, with the funds raised.

"We always try to give back to the communities we work in and this is a great opportunity to do that" Baniulis explained.

"We feel this combined effort of community-minded organizations reflects our conscious effort to be a part of the communities we work in. Thanks for the opportunity and help making this a reality."

Rutten was thankful for the help in fundraising and was very appreciative of the donations to the daycare.

"Help is always nice because we're a non-profit organization," Rutten explained.

"We're really busy here; we have 19 full-time kids here, which is how many we are able to have and there's a wait list as well."

The Arcola Daycare is also currently holding a fundraiser through Mom's Pantry until Friday, Oct. 10 to raise funds for the operations and upgrades of the facility.
