The Redvers SARCAN depot has been a busy place this summer, seeing long lineups and a record amount of recyclables go through its doors.

For the month of August, the depot received over 368,000 containers from 750 customers, which is up 20 per cent from August 2019.

Sean Homenick who is the manager of communications for SARCAN says that things are beginning to 鈥渞eturn to normal,鈥 so people will not have to wait in long lines like they did when the centres reopened June 15. The Redvers depot employs seven full-time staff at present.

The Redvers location had technician Sean Reid from Secure Retail POS of Winnipeg at the depot on Sept 8, doing maintenance and system checks to the equipment and hardware. The system was designed to handle heavier loads and operated efficiently over the higher traffic it received during the summer producing record numbers at SARCAN depots across Saskatchewan.

The system maintenance is done once a year at the lower volume centres and twice a year at the larger centres. Most sites were operating smoothly as the shutdown meant that the systems stayed in good shape while at rest. Most locations will be receiving upgrades in the coming weeks, so that SARCAN can continue to provide quality service to the customer.

Reid has a busy schedule and has been providing maintenance to systems in Weyburn, Assiniboia, Central Butte, Shaunavon and Kipling this week.

The SARCAN depot in Redvers will be back to normal hours beginning Sept 15 and will open at its usual time of 9 a.m.
