The Carlyle detachment handled 66 calls last week. Two of them related to stolen vehicles, and as they have not been found yet, police would appreciate members of the public keeping an eye open for them. A silver coloured Ford F-150 went missing from Manor, the plate number is 775 FST. And from Redvers, a gray GMC Sierra was stolen from a house driveway; the plate on the Sierra is 448 GAC. Police responded to a call from concerned parents, of a man allegedly engaging in inappropriate behaviour in full view of children who were playing in the vicinity. The man, not from this area, was taken into custody and charged with numerous offences.
A 911 call was made from a business in Carlyle, when a man was reportedly making inappropriate remarks to staff. Members attended and spoke with the man, but no charges were laid. After speaking with police, the man left the area.
These two incidents highlight the reality that summer brings many visitors to our area, and their character is an unknown factor. Parents are reminded to warn children and young people about the potential danger that some strangers might represent.
Several false alarms were reported this week. In Arcola, the alarm on a garage door at a school was triggered without apparent cause. In Carlyle, an alarm went off at a business when an employee failed to input the correct security code. And in Arcola, a security alarm activated at a business, but was then cancelled by the business owner.
Members responded to nine calls relating to unruly or unwanted persons in residences across the area. The details follow.
A 20-year-old male was charged with mischief and found to have an outstanding warrant from Regina. Police were called when he was yelling in a residence and causing property damage.
Several intoxicated persons were removed from a house after it was reported that one person was not supposed to be there when drinking.
A domestic argument led to the arrest of a 22-year-old male who had outstanding warrants.
A 21-year-old male was arrested and lodged in cells until sober, following an argument. He was charged with mischief and will appear in court.
A man and woman were reportedly fighting in a home where children and other adults were present. Both persons were found to be intoxicated. The woman was given a ride to the home of a relative, while the man ended up in jail until sober.
Two men, ages 26 and 37, were taken to cells to sober up after police received a complaint from a residence. No charges were filed.
Four 911 calls were received from Arcola regarding an unruly person. A 39-year-old male was arrested and charged with assault.
A 20-year-old female received a broken nose when allegedly punched by a 19-year-old male. The man was arrested and charged with assault.
An intoxicated female was removed from a party. She was taken to cells and charged with resisting arrest.
Police responded to a 911 call when a 75-year-old man was suffering from an overdose of medication. Members also used the 911 service to call for EMS and the ambulance arrived on the scene while police were still en route. With EMS attending, no further police involvement was necessary.
There were six cases of accidental 911 calls during this period. In several of these cases, background noise on the line made it obvious that children were playing when their speed button for the 911 service was unintentionally depressed. When members attended the calls, they spoke to people about the misuse of the service.
An attempted break and enter was reported at a cabin in a local resort area. While nobody apparently got in, somebody did spray paint on the outside of the building. The owner of the cabin was merely reporting the incident to police, but no further action was requested.
In Carlyle, a home-owner reported that two panels of a fence had been kicked in during their absence for a few days. This action constitutes a mischief, defined as anything that interferes with a person's enjoyment of property.
An assault was reported at a bar in Carlyle. One person allegedly punched another person, but when members attended, no charges were filed.
Police in Carlyle were asked to render assistance to other police forces in several cases. In this context, a 37-year-old male was arrested and transported to Regina to await a court hearing, and in another incident two witnesses to a traffic accident in Regina were interviewed locally. A third situation related to the misuse of a bank card in Saskatoon.
Most of the remaining calls relate to motor vehicles.
A motorcyclist was taken to hospital following an accident on Highway 9.
People were reportedly driving in a dangerous manner on a grid road near Manor.
A car ran into the side of a business in Carlyle after the brakes failed. Police have issued the owner with an inspection ticket, meaning they have to report to police with evidence that the brakes have been fixed after the repair work is completed.
A collision with a deer was reported on Highway 9 south of Carlyle.
A second deer collision was reported east of Manor. The vehicle was drivable and no injuries were reported to police.
An individual was issued with an inspection ticket with regard to a broken windshield.
A vehicle was reported for erratic driving on Highway 13, but was not located by police patrols.
