In the time period of Nov. 14 to Nov. 20, the Carlyle Detachment RCMP responded to a total of 39 calls.
Beginning on the 14th, eight calls were received that required police response.
A 911 call was responded to that originated from the community of Redvers.
Upon arriving, it was discovered to be technical glitch, and everything at the origin of the call was in order.
Also that day in Redvers, a ticket was issued by members to an individual for inadequate mirrors on the individual's vehicle.
A call originating in Carlyle drew members to a shed fire that had occurred in the town.
Responding members found the fire to be not suspicious, and the owner of the property indicated that they had had a warming light on in the shed for a litter of kittens.
A 911 hang-up call was received from a cabin in Moose Mountain Provincial Park.
Responding members found nothing amiss, and the individuals at the cabin suspected an 18-month old at the cabin may have dialled the number accidentally.
Members responded to an alarm from the community of Arcola.
Arriving, the members found nothing wrong, and the matter has been treated as a false alarm.
Members were drawn again to the community of Arcola to investigate a report of mischief.
The mischief in question, damage to a vehicle, came about following a domestic dispute.
The matter is under investigation at this time.
A 911 hang-up call from Redvers was investigated.
The follow-up to the call, which had originated from a pay phone, found nothing amiss.
A complainant contacted the RCMP from the community of Carlyle to report yelling and screaming from a nearby home.
Responding members located a couple who had been in an argument.
A female was given a ride home by responding officers, and the two individuals involved in the dispute were warned about noise.
On the day of Nov. 15, members responded to nine calls.
A fatal accident drew members south of Carlyle on highway 9.
Occurring near the intersection of highway 9 and 361, a 72-year-old individual driving a truck was struck by a semi-truck while attempting to execute a left turn across the highway.
The driver of the truck, who hailed from Alberta, was killed instantly in the collision.
Members were called to a residence in the area to assist a family with an unwelcome person in their home.
The individual, who was intoxicated, was throwing items around the residence, and scaring the children in the home.
Responding members took the individual into custody and held the person over night to sober up.
No charges were laid at the request of the complainant.
A 911 call was received reporting an attempted vehicle theft.
Responding members found the offending individual, however the complainant did not want charges laid in the matter.
A call reporting an assault led to an arrest and laying of multiple charges.
Members were called to a residence in the area where an individual complained of another person physically confronting the complainant while they were trying to enter their vehicle.
Responding members found the complainant had been drinking, as had the person accused of the assault.
Conducting a search of the area for the alleged assailant, members located the person behind the wheel of a car.
Attempting to bring the suspects vehicle to a halt, one responding member placed an RCMP vehicle in front of the suspect's vehicle.
Ignoring the police, the suspect attempted to drive past the police vehicle at speed, striking the police vehicle as they went.
Losing control of their vehicle following the collision, the suspect's vehicle came to a rest off the road in a ditch.
The 58-year-old individual is now charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, impaired operation of a motor vehicle over 0.8, operating a motor vehicle while pursued by police, mischief over $5,000 (for damage done to the policing vehicle,) dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, driving while disqualified.
The suspect in the case appeared in court on Nov. 17, and has been remanded until Nov. 24.
Members responded to a report of a collision with a deer.
The caller eight kilometres east of Carlyle on highway 13 when they struck the animal.
No one was injured in the collision.
Members assisted the Saskatoon Police Service by taking a report of a hit-and-run accident that had occurred at the Hilton Garden Hotel in Saskatoon.
The individual who was struck made a report to the Carlyle members, who then forwarded the reports onto Saskatoon.
Members received a call about an apparently abandoned three-month-old golden collie found by the road.
The collie, which had no tags, in the end was kept by the caller, who promised to bring the animal to the Regina animal shelter.
Members responded to a false alarm in the area.
Arriving at the location of the alarm, the members were informed that a squirrel had found its way into the building in question, and had on occasion set of the motion alarm.
A quick check of the premises bore out the claim.
On Nov. 16, members responded to a total of three calls.
Members attended the community of Redvers to serve a warrant for an individual.
The person in question had been found to be in breach of probation conditions following their failure to report to the probation officer, as well as failing to attend mandated addictions counselling.
A complaint of assault drew members to the community of Redvers, and an investigation into the complaint is ongoing.
A 911 call was received by members from a person who had been in previous contact with the detachment.
The individual, who had filed charges against another individual, wished the charges be dropped.
The caller was informed that the call, which was a non-emergency, needed to come to the direct line to the detachment.
No charges were laid for the misuse of 911.
The day of Nov. 17 saw members attend to a total of three calls.
A 911 call drew members to the scene of a motor vehicle accident involving two automobiles.
The collision, which took place when a car drove into the rear end of a pick-up truck, left damage to both vehicles, though no one was injured.
The driver of the car admitted to falling asleep while at the wheel, leading to collision.
The driver of the car was ticketed for driving without due care and attention.
A complaint of a hit-and-run drew members to the community of Redvers.
An investigation into the reported collision is ongoing.
Members were called to Moose Mountain Provincial Park to assist a conservation officer.
The conservation officer had apprehended three individuals who were in the process of poaching a moose.
Members attended and assisted the officer with the three men, all of whom hailed from Manitoba.
More than $2,500 in fines has so far been levelled at the three poachers.
Nov. 18 saw detachment members respond to a total of four calls.
Detachment personnel, in support of the Regina Police Service, served a subpoena to an individual on behalf of the Regina force.
Members patrolling highway 13 near Carlyle issued a ticket to one driver for driving without a valid licence.
A complaint was received which drew members concerning a large vehicle driving dangerously slow without proper lights.
A search of the area reported turned up a grader, moving with a lead vehicle, down a grid road.
When pulling over the grader, the vehicle in question slipped off the road and into a ditch.
A warning was issued to the drivers of both the grader and the lead vehicle that it was prohibited to move such equipment after dark, even with a lead vehicle.
Moose Jaw Police Service received assistance from the Carlyle detachment when members delivered a ticket to a resident of Carlyle for speeding.
The individual in question must appear in court for a hearing on Jan. 19, 2011.
On Friday, Nov. 19, a total of eight calls required attention.
A 911 call drew members to the community of Redvers for a complaint of domestic assault.
The complainant advised members that they had awoken to their partner screaming and yelling at them, and attempting to hit them.
While the situation had settled by the time the members arrived, the complainant asked that, while no charges were to be filed, a report be made so evidence of such behaviour would exist.
A complaint was received regarding the theft of horses.
Following some investigation, the complainant was informed that the horses were not stolen, and were being held in impound by a Rural Municipality.
The caller was told to contact the RM is question.
An individual who was in a single car accident called to report that they had been cut off by another vehicle, leading the driver to react in such a way that the caller lost control of the vehicle.
The allegation is under investigation.
Members were called to a residence where a person, reportedly drunk and hostile, was attempting to initiate a physical confrontation.
Responding members arrived to find the suspect had entered the home, and was breaking items within the house.
The suspect was taken into custody.
Detachment members provided information support following a request from the Yorkton Tribal Council.
Members, acting on behalf of the Medicine Hat Police Service, delivered an Emergency Protection Order (EPO) to a resident in Manor.
Similar to a Saskatchewan Emergency Intervention Order, the Alberta EPO disallows the person named in it from approaching a property held by them but inhabited by the complainant.
Members responded to a two vehicle MVA near Carlyle.
Damage to the vehicles was slight, and no injuries were reported.
No charges were laid.
November 20 saw members respond to a total of three calls.
A report was made by an individual of a lost wallet.
The person made the report due to the amount of identification the individual had in the wallet.
A complaint of mischief was received originating from Arcola.
The caller, who declined police presence due to the minor nature of the damage (kicked in tail lights on a pick-up truck,) instead just wanted to inform the members in the event that more vehicles had been so damaged.
An investigation into the report is ongoing.
A complaint drew members to Kisbey.
A landlord/tenant dispute had become and argument, though things had calmed by the time members arrived.
An agreement was made between the two parties regarding repair of property damage, effectively ending the conflict.
The matter is closed.
