Carlyle’s Prairie Dog Drive-In Theatre had plenty of reasons to celebrate Friday night.
Not only was it the first night of their 2020 season, but this year marks their 40th anniversary season.Ìý
The business was able to open Friday after the provincial government said drive-in theatres could open May 15 as part of the Re-Open Saskatchewan Plan.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there was some worry if the theatre would be allowed to open. The Saskatchewan Government just recently gave the thumbs up for the opening, since we all know that “the show must go on.â€
The Prairie Dog opened for the season by showing Trolls World Tour, which is an animated production.
The venue will only be able to handle 98 vehicles to maintain physical distancing, and each spot will be numbered.Ìý
Theatre co-owner Ray Boutin expected a great crowd Friday night. He has had inquiries from places all over the province wanting to attend this very special weekend for the Prairie Dog Drive In Theatre.
There was a steady line of traffic along Highway 9 as vehicles were waiting to get into the grounds to watch the movie.
