The 22nd Annual Saskatchewan Tourism Awards held in Saskatoon on April 20th awarded Stoughton's new Poplar Tree Inn with their prestigious "Rookie of the Year Award." In the crowd to hear the announcement were the hotel's manager Danielle Hoffman and Don Sangster representing Sangster Group Lodgings Ltd. who own the hotel. They were thrilled and not expecting to be the recipient of this award. Sangster received the glass engraved trophy at the banquet in front of 350 guests. He recognized in his speech what he feels contributed to being the honored recipient. He cited the good business plan the shareholders put together and in their realizing there was a market for the hotel in the heart of the "oil patch", the good management they have had from the beginning and the staff that have followed management's lead in providiing excellent service in looking after the guests which has led to repeat business. What may makes the award perhaps so coveted is it provides recognition in the hotel industry and with Saskatchewan Tourism.

Since the hotel opened in July 2010 it has boasted an almost 80% occupancy with it's 43 rooms!

The hotel also provides a complimentary breakfast, a 40 person meeting room, business room, fitness centre and lots of parking for the large trucks associated with the oil and gas industry in the area.

The Poplar Tree Inn prides itself on excellent customer service and small town hospitality, meeting the needs of their customers to make their stay here memorable enough they want to return!

Congratulations!
