Photos: Dickens Village Festival draws a crowd to Carlyle

Activities are happening throughout the day on Dec. 2 and 3.

CARLYLE - The community of Carlyle has been transformed into a quaint Victorian-era village for the annual Dickens Village Festival.

The festival opened up Dec. 2 with a host of activities in the town. The festivities have resumed Dec. 3 and are happening throughout the day.

As part of the festival, the Cornerstone Community Theatre is performing Twenty-Three Scrooge Doo, an adaptation of Dickens' A Christmas Carol, set in the Roaring 1920s and the days of prohibition. The first performance was Dec. 2. Another will be Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m., and the final one will be Dec. 4 at 2 p.m.

The festival has become a popular annual event in Carlyle, attracting people from throughout the province and generating an economic spinoff for the town. It requires the efforts of a host of volunteers to happen each year.
