A petition is now on the change.org website to get the Kenosee Superslides open again.
Started by Kenneth Sibbald and named Save the Kenosee Superslides, the petition had collected more than 4,500 signatures as of Tuesday morning. The Saskatchewan Health Authority ordered the closure of the popular attraction last Friday, drawing the ire of many park users and others.
Sibbald says the health authority claims the slides are too dangerous for public use, but he counters that is unfounded and the opinion of one individual with no actual data used to back up this theory.
Staff members at the Superslides work long hard hours keeping up the slides to avoid injuries and keep people safe.
鈥淭he slides are not only a water park, local businesses count on the tourism to bring money into the area. Thousands of people come every year and now those businesses have had those tourism dollars cut off.鈥�
