Oxbow Swimming Pool is happy to announce that they are now open for visitors. They officially opened on June 7 and are excited for what this summer will bring.
The pool has been busy already with plenty of visitors, and has started setting up swimming lessons, speed swimming times, public swimming times and adult lane swimming.
Their daily times are posted on their Facebook page for everyone’s convenience, but once their summer times start on June 30, there will be public swimming from 1-5 p.m. and then starting again at 7 p.m. The pool also hopes to be open for the summer until around the Labour Day long weekend.
There will be some exciting things happening this summer at the pool. The swimming lessons will be for preschool up to level 10, and they will also have a parents and tots swim on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (which people must pre-register for). On July 1, there will be a free swim sponsored by Prairie Pride Credit Union.
In addition, the pool will also be having pool parties again. Last year pool parties were not possible, but now with the limit in the water being 60 people, and 100 within the fence, there is much more flexibility. In fact, as of now the pool is already planning on having an end of school party on June 28 from 4-7 p.m.
As for changes due to COVID-19 regulations, the change rooms will be closed, so people will be required to come dressed for the pool. Bathrooms will still be open though. Other than that, there will be basic rules such as social distancing and wearing a mask while inside the building.
The pool also expects to see the regulations change after June 20 to allow for 150 people.
Overall, the people who are involved with the pool are excited for how this year will turn out. Last year was hard with waiting on the government to decide whether or not to open pools. As Tami Scott, the chairperson of the Oxbow Swimming Pool Committee explained, last year’s season was much shorter due to COVID-19, but this year has been better. In general, she explained that they are “looking forward to just a really good back to almost normal summer.â€
