For more than two years now, the Oxbow Health Care Auxiliary has been trying to raise money for a new handivan for the Galloway Health Centre, due to having a hard time finding parts for their old vehicle.
鈥淭o date, our group has raised more than 75 per cent of the projected $120,000 needed to purchase a van,鈥 said Alison Duncan, who is the auxiliary鈥檚 president.
The handivan at the Galloway Health Centre is used to drive long-term care residents out for shopping trips, country drives or even appointments, making it a very valuable and much needed asset to the centre and its people. The current van is safe to drive and use but because of its age it has become harder to service and acquire parts for.
鈥淐OVID-19 has totally changed the look of fundraising for many groups. To that end, we are reaching out and looking for community and corporate support as we face the final hurdle of getting that van,鈥 Duncan expresses.
The auxiliary would like the public's help in reaching their goal so if you have a fundraising idea or know of any other way that they could reach their final goal, reach out and contact them at [email protected].
