Town Council met on Wednesday Jan. 4 at 7 p.m.

Council has sold two more lots, one in a commercial subdivision and one in a residential subdivision.

The mayor, Don Shirley, reported on the 2011 Saskatchewan health statistics. Carlyle's population in 2011 was 1,867, whereas the population 2010 was 1,580. Carlyle has seen an 18% increase in the population in just a year.

The policy regarding the purchase of town property has been changed. As all property prices were set at one time, applications will no longer have to go to council. Instead, they need just go through Hugette Lutz, unless a price is being offered which is different from the set price. Payment in full is now due in three months rather than a year.

Council would like to set up a community foundation. The council as a whole will be the steering committee to get it up and running, following which a board would be appointed. The purpose of the foundation would be to handle any money or property donated or left as a bequest to the town.

The meeting adjourned at 8:50 p.m.
