聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 Carlyle Collision, located at 102 Railway Ave. W. is now under new ownership as of Wednesday, Feb. 14; excited for the new venture are Kyle Whitman and Mariah Dayman who now own the business.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Whitman had been a silent partner for the past two years as the third owner of the business, while Dayman was a journeyman working in the shop for eight years.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淚 saw her talents early on and realized I couldn鈥檛 see her go, so we discussed it,鈥� Whitman said. 鈥淪he phoned me and said, 鈥榊ou know what, we can do this.鈥� She鈥檚 the brains, I鈥檓 just the janitor.鈥�
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Both agree that being managing owners is an exciting turn in their careers.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淚t feels way different; it鈥檚 a night and day difference,鈥� Whitman stated referencing being a silent partner to being able to make decisions.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Dayman added, 鈥淲e鈥檙e really excited about this. We鈥檙e looking forward to being more involved in the community and stepping forward with a fresh start. We have a super motivated, young staff who are willing to learn.鈥�
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Currently they employ six people with a new journeyman hired and on their way to make seven total.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 聽鈥淲e鈥檙e big on treating our employees well because if you make your employees happy, tell them they鈥檙e doing a good job and encourage them, they know they鈥檙e appreciated,鈥� Whitman said. 鈥淥ther than the customer, they鈥檙e everything.鈥�
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淲e have an amazing bookkeeper too, her name is Leslie Boulet,鈥� Dayman explained. 鈥淲e wouldn鈥檛 know what to do without her.鈥�
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淪he鈥檚 been our saving grace before and after this transaction,鈥� Whitman added. 鈥淪he鈥檚 been a breath of fresh air.鈥�
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The company has various focuses from customer鈥檚 personal needs to oilfield needs.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淲e do pipe coating 鈥� interior and exterior 鈥� for the oilfield, as well as all of the work in the body shop,鈥� Whitman stated.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淲e have the new shop [right next door, which was built last year] where the pipe will be taken into because that鈥檚 a messy job,鈥� he added. 鈥淲e鈥檙e slowly but surely rebuilding the company and making it as strong as it possibly can be. Right now we鈥檙e in the midst of moving things around, so we can utilize space better and make everything easier for our employees.鈥�
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 On the Autobody side of things, Dayman stated, 鈥淲e鈥檙e SGI accredited with Elite status, which is the highest you can get.鈥�
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Still available is the powder coating of box liners, which is currently only available in black, but options for colour coated box liners are in the works.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淲e鈥檝e been in talks with a company about the coloured box liners, but we鈥檝e been getting a lot done around here right now, so it鈥檚 in the works and we鈥檒l have that option soon,鈥� Whitman explained.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淚t鈥檚 not just something focused on bed lining boxes either; it can be used on trailers, tools, golf carts, really anything that you would like coated, it鈥檚 more versatile than the name says.鈥�
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淭he powder coating is the same thing, it can be used on various projects, like car rims. Old, crappy looking rims we can powder coat and make them look factory fresh and beautiful 鈥� with different colours too.鈥�
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淲e also do sandblasting; all types, so whether it鈥檚 for the oilfield or someone has a project they need done, we can do it 鈥� from personal right up to oilfield uses.鈥�
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Overall Whitman and Dayman are excited about the new future of the company and where they see it in the community.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淲e want to be a pillar of the community,鈥� Whitman said.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淲e will be holding a Grand Opening in May once everything is cleaned up and underway,鈥� Dayman explained.
Whitman added, 鈥淲e had to start small because we had a lot to do, so we鈥檙e just picking away at everything. We both wanted a nice, clean place. So once we get everything in line we鈥檒l be ready to host a Grand Opening.鈥�
