If you are in need of figure skating gear, look no further than N'Dyer Need. Owned by a local mom-and-daughter duo, the company is here to offer a variety of supplies for figure skaters and dancers.

"I'm a figure skating coach and people are always asking, 'Where can I get guards and where can I can I get this?'" explains Dawn Dyer of her decision to go into business with her mom, Sandra Dyer. "I had been thinking about it for awhile, but it just took some time to actually do it."

Dawn and Sandra bought out "Denise's Active Wear," which was previously owned by Denise Taylor of Beinfait.

"Some people have asked whether we are having a store in Bienfait now because the woman we bought out lived in Bienfait," Dyer explains. "But, really all we did was buy the supplies she had packed away and we're going to build on [the supplies] and sell it from our home."

So, to answer the question, no, the women will not be opening a store in Beinfait; they will be operating N'Dyer Need out of Carlyle

This works well for Dawn, who coaches in Carlyle and Arcola.

"We're doing it out of our home, so if someone needs a pair of tights, I can bring it the next day [to practice]," says Dyer.

N'Dyer Need offers many of the necessities for any figure skater including: guards; tights; and dresses. The amount of dresses the women have on-hand at this point is limited, but they plan to have more in the future. Alternatively, people can also order dresses - for figure skating or dance - out of the catalogues the mom-and-daughter duo have available. They can order any of the pre-made dresses.

"Once we get going, it will branch a little bit further, too," says Dyer.

Since Dyer coaches skating, her mom takes control of the reigns during local competitions, and during the odd regular practice, in order for the products to be available when they are needed. Both women are happy with the decision to purchase the business.
