Mryglod Steel matches funds raised at Weyburn brunch for Ukrainian charity

The sponsor of the brunch held on March 26, Mryglod Steel and Metals, is matching the funds raised, for a grand total of $9,455 for a charity in Ukraine

WEYBURN – A fundraiser brunch, held on March 26 at the Weyburn Legion Hall, along with an online auction, will see $9,455 go to a charity in Ukraine to help out people displaced by the Russian invasion.

The fundraiser was organized by local Ukrainians who wanted to help people out in their home country, and was sponsored by Mryglod Steel and Metals. The organizers estimate about 150 people came out to the brunch.

Mryglod has donated a matching amount from what was raised at the meal, to bring the total tally to $9,455.

“It’s something we want to do for the people in Ukraine,” said one of the organizers, Julia Peregon, who later texted, “This is amazing. Weyburn has wonderful people.”
