The cross country ski trails will be ready to go for the 2nd annual Winter Carnival.

The Moose Mountain Lions Club, in a move to raise funds, will host the 2nd annual Winter Carnival at Kenosee Lake Saturday, Feb. 18.

The first part of the fundraising day will start at 9 a.m. with a pancake breakfast at the Moose Mountain Church of Christ. The cost is $5 for eight years and under, and $10 for those nine years and older. Breakfast will run until 11 a.m.

The fun hockey tournament (six people per team) will begin at 11 a.m. The cost to enter a team is $100. To register your team, contact Tamara Kapell at 577-9763.

Also starting at 11 a.m. is a snowmobile derby. Everyone participating is asked to register at the Moose Mountain Church of Christ. Hands for the derby can be purchased for $5 per hand or 3 for $10. There will be food and drinks available along the trail.

At noon those who wish to get some exercise, enjoy the great weather and breathe the fresh air can head over to Little Kenosee for the cross country ski derby. Hands for the cross country ski derby are available at the same price as the snowmobile derby hands ($5 for one and $10 for three). There will be food and drinks available on the trail, and prizes are sponsored by Fresh Air Experience. No skis? No problem. Grab some rental equipment on site. Fresh Air Experience will be there with new demo equipment for rent.

Wrapping up the fun-filled day is a beef on a bun supper at 6:30 p.m. (cocktails at 5) at the Kenosee Lake Rec Hall. The cost is $10 per person. There will be prizes and a cabaret to follow with no cover charge.

To register for any of the day's events contact Tamara Kapell at 577-9763.

The Lions appreciate the support and sponsorship from The BarBar, Kenosee Inn, Seed Hawk Inc., C & M Homes, Moose Mountain Auto Glass, Equal Trucking and Moose Mountain Mud, in helping to make this day a great success.

Last year's fundraising day generated approximately $7,000. Donations were made to: the new playground at Kenosee Lake Village; the resurfacing project for the tennis courts; and local families in need.

The Moose Mountain Lions Club currently has 31 members. If you are interested in joining this group please contact Tamara Kapell at 577-9763 or one of the local members.
