Moose Mountain Knights of Columbus receive top international award

The Moose Mountain Knights of Columbus have earned one of the organization's top awards-the distinction of Star Council-for the 2013-2014 fraternal year. The factors the award recognizes are overall excellence in the areas of membership recruitment and retention and sponsorship of service-oriented activities. Head of the local council, Jerry Weber says, 鈥淩eceiving the Star Council Award is quite an honour for us. 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 The Moose Mountain Knights of Columbus Council 10317 of Carlyle has earned one of the organization's top awards-the distinction of Star Council-for the 2013-2014 fraternal year.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The Knights of Columbus is the world's largest Catholic lay organization and has over 1.8 million members in over 15,000 councils around the world. The Star Council award recognizes overall excellence in the areas of membership recruitment and retention, promotion of the fraternal insurance program and sponsorship of service-oriented activities. The award was presented to the Moose Mountain Knights at a special ceremony on June 14.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The organization is headquartered in New Haven, Connecticut and Chief Executive Officer, Carl A. Anderson told the Moose Mountain Knights: 鈥淧lease accept my sincere congratulations upon attaining this prestigious award. Your dedication to the Order is seen in the high standard of excellence you have achieved.鈥

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淎t the same time, I encourage you to carry forward this enthusiasm to meet the challenges that will face the Knights of Columbus in the years ahead. May this award be a reminder and an inspiration to the members of your council to continue to promote the ideals of Columbianism for the good of the Church, your community and the Order.鈥

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The Moose Mountain Knights of Columbus members are from Carlyle, Carnduff, Oxbow and Cantal Parish, which encompasses Alida, Manor and area.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The Moose Mountain Knights have hosted an annual snowmobile rally for over 20 years, along with other volunteer fundraisers, including cooking and serving the supper at Carlyle's annual Boogie Fest. The group maintains the Kenosee Boys and Girls Camp and the Mother Teresa Centre, and supports Crescent Point Leisure Complex in Carlyle and the Carlyle and District Food Bank. Members also donate Christmas hampers as well as privately supporting individuals in need.
