Manor School celebrates graduating class of 2021

Grade 12 students from Manor School gathered together on June 26 to celebrate their high school graduation.

Although COVID-19 health restrictions meant that this year鈥檚 graduation festivities looked different from those held in previous years, friends, family and community members still found ways to show their love and support for the class of 2021.

Celebrations began that day at 4:30 p.m. with a parade of the graduates through the town of Manor. Community members had the opportunity to greet graduates and show their support. The parade was led by the Manor Fire Department.

A formal graduation ceremony was held later that evening at 7 p.m. at the Manor Rink. The ceremony largely came together thanks to the hard work of the graduates鈥 parents.

The ceremony was emceed by community member Tory Poirier and the guest speaker was high school English teacher Michelle Cundall.

Other teachers and staff from Manor School provided their speeches virtually through a video presentation.

Charisse Yanchycki was this year鈥檚 valedictorian. Shay-Lynne Englot and Hannah Littlechief delivered predictions about the class鈥檚 future post-graduation, while the last will and testament was presented by Ross Brimner and Dominique Jurista.

Scholarships were also presented during the ceremony. Yanchycki received the Anderson Family scholarship, the Moose Mountain Wildlife scholarship and the 麻豆视频 East Cornerstone Public School Division scholarship. Brimner was awarded the Manor School staff scholarship.

The ceremony concluded with a slide show featuring photos of the graduates throughout the years.

Despite some challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, the graduation was overall very successful, said Jamie Brimner, the mother of graduate Ross Brimner and one of the organizers of the ceremony.

鈥淲e feel that we were able to have a really nice grad, and that it was very successful. And it did come together in the end with all the challenges and different things that we face. So we were, we were feeling very fortunate to be able to have as nice a grad as we did have in the end,鈥 Brimner said.

Brimner wishes to thank everyone in Manor and the surrounding community for all their help and support in making this year鈥檚 graduation a success, especially those who helped with last-minute changes.
