It was a bit of a somber day in Manor on Tuesday, June 30, as the Affinity Credit Union closed its doors for the final time. With coffee, tea, and cookies members were invited into the Manor branch of the Credit Union for the last time.
Having opened its doors on April 26, 1965, the Manor Credit Union had served the town for 50 years.
Following an in-depth review of all Affinity Credit Unions in Saskatchewan the decision to close the Manor branch developed.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淭he decision to close a branch is very difficult,鈥 said Mark Lane, Affinity Credit Union Chief Executive Officer. 鈥淏ut, over a number of years, members have opted to use other service delivery channels such as mobile, internet, and telephone banking. Like most Canadians, they are attracted by much greater flexibility in today鈥檚 mobile and connected world. We must continually adapt to meet the changing needs of members.
There were several factors that went into the decision, which will see an adjustment period for those who were members in Manor. They will now be invited to conduct their banking at other nearby locations of the Affinity Credit Union in both Redvers and Carlyle.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淎ll members are very important to us. We want to ensure they have the tools and services they require 鈥 whether at another Affinity branch, through mobile specialists, our personalized Contact Centre, or through online, telephone or mobile banking,鈥 added Lane.
The location in Manor had been operating at reduced hours for four days a week prior to its closure and only had one teller working at a time.
The decision to close Manor didn鈥檛 come easily, but it is the hopes of those with Affinity that they can continue to move forward with the community and their members: 鈥淲e are very much focused on ensuring we can offer our members price-competitive products, services and technology that鈥檚 relevant to their lifestyles 鈥 we really are in an evolving period as an industry,鈥 said Lane.
