Manor School celebrated heading back to school with a BBQ on Wednesday, Aug. 30. Students were welcomed to meet teachers, check out classrooms, bring school supplies, and enjoy a BBQ – sponsored by local businesses and the School Community Council.
In regards to meeting the teachers, this included two new individuals at the Manor School. Melissa Barsi is joining the staff with 17 years experience and is looking forward to her first year as principal. Barsi is originally from Kennedy, SK, and found her way back to the area with her husband, an RCMP officer, who was posted locally.
Last year Barsi worked in Wawota, but is excited for her new endeavour: “It will be a new experience for me and I’m excited to learn the role of principal; but, I’m very much looking forward to meeting the students.”
While at Wawota, Barsi was joined by Eilysh Kirkpatrick, who is teaching the Kindergarten, grade one and grade two multi-classroom. Kirkpatrick is originally from Lafleche, saying she enjoys the small town atmosphere of community.
“I grew up in a similar town,” Kirkpatrick said.
She is entering her second year of teaching and is especially looking forward to working with the staff in Manor, but is also excited to meet the students and begin the school year.
