Robert Kitchen will remain the member of Parliament in Souris-Moose Mountain.
With 211 of 216 polls reporting, Kitchen, who is the candidate for the Conservative Party, had 28,601 votes, or 76.4 per cent of the 37,418 votes counted.
Diane Neufeld of the People’s Party of Canada was second with 3,436 votes, or 9.2 per cent of the popular vote.
Hannah Duerr of the New Democratic Party was third at 2,912 votes (7.8 per cent), Javin Ames-Sinclair of the Liberal Party was fourth at 1,528 votes (4.1 per cent) and Greg Douglas of the Maverick Party was fifth at 941 votes (2.5 per cent).
Kitchen was elected as Souris-Moose Mountain’s MP in 2015. He was re-elected four years later.
The Liberal Party will once again form the government, but it will be a minority government, just like after the 2019 election.
The Liberals won 158 of 338 seats, 12 short of the number they needed for a majority. The Conservatives will be the official opposition with 119. The Bloc Quebecois had 34, the New Democratic Party had 25 and the Green Party had two.
